The plane takes off, the roaring sound of the engines filling Alex's ears. But it doesn't stop Alex from hearing the "I love you" over and over again in his mind. Henry, loves, me? Does he mean it? His life is getting too good for him to believe recently. Just as he was wishing for the thing between them to never change yesterday, he gets something better today. He even begins to doubt did he just made up that scene. Is it a projection of his dream? Can't be. Can not be. One sure thing is that Alex loves Henry. He's sure now. And he hasn't got a chance to say it yet.

He unlocks his phone, clicks on his and Henry's texts automatically, scrolling through the recent texts.

Alex: On the plane now 🥰

Your Majesty💋: I'm in the waiting hall.

Alex: Gonna get locked here for five hrs ☹️☹️

Alex: Already missin u 😭😭😭

Your Majesty💋: If u want, u can open ur present during the flight.

Alex: Rly???!

Your Majesty💋: Protect it w/ ur life!

Alex: Ofc babe

Alex: Haveta turn on airplane mode now ☹️

Alex: I'll land earlier than u

Your Majesty💋: I'll text u when I land

Alex: Facetime when u land

Alex: ok! ❤️❤️❤️

Your Majesty💋: ok, see u ❤️

Seeing those conversations makes Alex grin involuntarily. He takes out the packet carefully tucked in the back of his bag, realizing that his grin only grows wider. Alex is so glad that he is not seated with the girls. They were upset about not being able to chat together. Now, Alex is only glad that he can avoid their teasing glare. Nora is definitely going to comment something like "whipped", or "smitten" if she sees Alex like this, which is technically not wrong, but Alex can not say he enjoys the teases.

The brown paper packet is neat and clean, like Henry. There's a little creamy yellow bow in the upper left corner. Alex gently pulls off the bow and tucks the ribbon into his bag, he has to preserve every part of Henry's present. Fingers trailing the edge of the brown paper, Alex carefully works on the part stuck together by tapes. He can't bring himself to tear it open, the paper is part of the present. Maybe I AM whipped. Alex shakes his head.

Alex has no idea what Henry got him. He was surprised when Henry handed him the packet. A book is literally the least possible gift he expects to get. Not that he doesn't read, he does, it's just people normally assume he doesn't like reading. What could this be? Poetry? Novel? Better not be "Great Expectations".

When the pattern of the Union Jack appears under the wrapping paper, Alex freezes. This is Henry's journal! He takes off the rest of the brown paper with shaky hands, full of disbelief and surprise. It is the cotton texture Union Jack notebook. The corner of the flyleaf prints Henry's signature. This IS Henry's journal.

Alex still remembers, one night months ago, Henry was behind the desk writing something. He walks over not really thinking, taking a peak over his shoulder. All he saw was his elegant handwriting, leaning in one direction, it was too far for him to make out what was written. Feeling Alex's presence, Henry closed the journal in a swift movement. Claiming he didn't mean to offend, Alex heard the story of this notebook. It is a gift from Henry's father. He began to write journals after his dad passed away. He takes this with him wherever he goes.
