Joel's POV
The lodge was quiet as you snuck your way through the narrow hallway. The clouds were hazy and covering the sun, so no sunlight was beaming through the glass windows. It was almost as dark as this place felt. Cold, uninviting, and lethal.
You took the safety off the rifle and opened the action, loading a magazine. Quickly closing the bolt and locking it in place, you held it up ready to aim at whatever came your way. You made your way around the corner and looked both ways. There was nothing. Where the hell was everyone?
You crept around and went into the next room. To your right was a kitchen the size of one you'd see at a summer camp that could feed over 100 people. You turned and went in, careful not to bang into any of the hanging metal pots. Before you could get too far, you heard some voices from the other room. The sound came from upstairs as they descended the opulent staircase that was next to the main room of the lodge.
"Have you guys seen James? David's looking for him. Said it's urgent," one of the men said to the others.
"I saw him not long ago. Don't think he went outside. Michael went outside though. Said he was gonna go smoke. Last I saw him was about 15 mins ago."
Shit. Aly was outside. If she wasn't back in the next few minutes you'd go looking for her.
You listened as their footsteps carried down the hall, getting more distant. Before long you heard one of the men cry out, "James and Rex, they're dead! Someone slit their throats!"
"Someone snuck in. Find them and kill them!" another man said with thick and heavy words.
Come and get me then fuckers. You were ready to shed more blood. Violence ran through you as if it was part of your dna. That same exact feeling when you were out with Tommy all those times coming back. If they wanted a fight then that's exactly what they'd get. But you'd come out winning, just like always.
"Split up. You two go search the back. Me and Cam will go search the front of the building. He's gotta be around here somewhere. Can't hide forever," he shouted out in the distance as it echoed around the room.
You heard footsteps coming towards the room you were in. You backed up right against the edge of the door, ready to attack if they walked in. You heard one of the men walk past, the other one stayed around the area circling by the staircase.
You were about to step out of the room when a man dressed in winter apparel stepped through the kitchen door, spotting you instantly. Before he could call out to the other men you swung the gun, hitting him hard with the butt of the gun and knocking him unconscious.
As soon as he passed out on the floor, you took one of your tracker boots and stomped on his head hard, his head instantly turning to mush as blood seeped out onto the floor. You spit into his face before you walked out of the kitchen, ready to hunt down the man that went to the back of the lodge.
You held up the rifle, your aim sharp and steady for shooting. You walked down a long corridor with giant windows covering each side. The floors eerily creaked with each step you took. You looked both ways trying to find your next victim.
You turned to your right as you came around a sharp corner. There was an open wooden door with light streaming out of the room. A light rustling sound was coming from inside.
You slowly walked over to it and came to a halt at the entrance of the room. There he was, your next victim. You caught him off guard as he turned around, his eyes going wide.
