When Jin arrived in the dining room, Jungkook was comfortably seated on the table, leafing through a certain toy magazine. Jongsu was sitting opposite him, also concentrating on a similar book. Jin approached them, taking a seat next to Jungkook, and put his head over his shoulder, a small smile on his lips.

"Are you making your list for Santa?" the young man asked the two boys.

Jongsu looked up at him silently, while Jungkook nodded happily, giving a childish little laugh.

"Hyung, you know there's no such thing as Santa Claus!" laughed the boy. "But Mom told us to make our list..."

Jin nodded, his heart melting as he heard Jungkook's adorable laugh. He had to admit that lately, the boy had been happier. Probably because he now had a friend, Jimin, with whom he spent a lot of time, especially at school, but also because he had become a full member of his group of friends, Bangtan.

"I see... And what did you choose?"

Jongsu was the first to hand over his list, which Jin read carefully.

"Oh, you want the new Barbie? It's true that this year's dress is really beautiful..."

Jongsu nodded, and picked up his list when Jin handed it to him. The young man then turned to Jungkook, who was impatiently waiting his turn.

"What about you, Kook?"

The boy showed it to him, and pointed to one item in particular.

"That bike hyung, it looks so good! It's number one on my list!"

Jin couldn't help but hug Jungkook as he was so adorable, crushing his chubby cheeks in his hands.

"Oh, I hope you get it, Kookie!"

"Mrs Lee has made it grand again this year!"

Taehyung turned as he saw a young man approach him, a boy he'd seen several times before at other parties. He must have been the son of one of his father's associates, and that was why he felt obliged to stick by him every time they bumped into each other. Needless to say, Taehyung didn't really enjoy his company. But for the sake of his family's reputation, he kept quiet.

"Yes, it's true. This Christmas will be another success." he replied simply.

Today, a good part of Seoul's high society had gathered for Christmas, a party organised by Lee Chaneul, the wife of a major industrial. Taehyung was obviously one of the guests, even though he would have preferred to stay at home and work, as his eighteenth birthday was coming up and he would soon have to work in his father's company. He wanted to make sure he was ready.

The boy (whose name he still couldn't remember) continued to talk to him about subjects that Taehyung wasn't listening to. He just scanned the large reception room with a distracted air. He had seen Yoongi a little further on, but the young man was in the middle of a discussion with a famous producer, and he knew that Yoongi was trying to recruit him for his agency. It was best to leave him alone for the time being.

"Oh, the Jeons have just arrived."

This sentence snapped him out of his thoughts, and he immediately turned his head towards where the boy was pointing. The Jeon parents had just entered the great hall, closely followed by Jin, Jongsu and Jungkook. Taehyung felt his heart warm up as he caught sight of the child, who looked adorably innocent.

"Still, I feel a bit sorry for you. The middle child, er... Jungkook, he sticks to you as soon as he sees you."

Taehyung turned his attention back to the boy, his eyebrows furrowed.

"What?"

The young man, not seeming to have grasped the sudden annoyance in Taehyung's voice, continued.

"Yes, it must be so annoying. Doesn't that kid have any friends to cling to you all the time? You're so patient , I'd have told him to piss off a long time ago if I was you..."

The boy laughed at the end, not noticing at all that Taehyung's gaze had darkened. If there was one thing that made him angry, it was when people talked badly about those closest to him, especially Jungkook. The boy was always so adorable, looking at Taehyung with his big doe eyes that seemed to contain the universe. He was always so shy, blushing whenever the young man spoke to him.

He couldn't help but love Jungkook. There was no one more adorable than him on this planet.

"And who are you to dare talk about him like that, eh?" Taehyung suddenly asked, anger in his voice.

The boy stopped laughing immediately, looking at Taehyung with surprise (and concern).

"H-Huh?"

"You, who are nobody, you dare to criticise him? You're a constant pain in the ass, I can't even remember your name and you give me a massive headache every time you open your mouth. At least Jungkook's adorable. Whereas all you do is annoy me."

The boy was speechless. What could you say to that? What could you say when Kim Taehyung humiliated you, when he had the potential to take over Seoul? Nothing, you said nothing. You just kept quiet and accepted the humiliation.

Seeing that the boy didn't dare say another word, Taehyung rolled his eyes.

"Pathetic..."

He was often mistaken for someone mature and benevolent. No, Kim Taehyung was above all polite and manipulative. He knew with whom it was best to be courteous, and those who were of no interest. This boy was one of them.

He walked away without waiting for an answer, because he knew there wouldn't be one and he didn't really care to hear it. Instead, he headed for one of the counters, where a certain boy was pouring himself a glass of fruit juice.

"Hello, sweetheart."

The boy was startled and immediately turned around. His cheeks flushed red as he caught sight of Taehyung, who was watching him with a small smile on his lips.

"H-Hyungie... you're here too..."

Taehyung held back from hugging him, cooing internally as he was too adorable. He did, however, display a falsely vexed pout.

"What, you didn't want to see me, that's it? To think I was so excited at the idea of spending the evening with you!

The boy blushed even more, turning as red as a poppy. Taehyung wanted to spend time with him? Kim Taehyung, the man he'd secretly fallen in love with (or not so secretly)? Jungkook's heart was beating so fast he could have died.

"N-No, on the contrary, I'm so happy to see you, hyungie..."

Taehyung couldn't hold back any longer, affectionately ruffling his hair. Jungkook was a little angel, and Taehyung always wanted to pamper him, especially when he saw the injustice he suffered at home. He already didn't really like Jeon Hyeri (from what Jin told him), but it was worse now that he saw how she behaved with his Jungkook. The boy deserved so much better.

Taehyung wanted to continue talking to the boy, but they were cut off when Mrs Lee stepped into the middle of the room.

"Children, come closer, it's time for presents!"
