Jungkook snuggled closer to Taehyung, who tightened his grip around his waist. The two men were lying in bed, protected by the warmth of the blankets. A good hour had passed since Jungkook's outburst, and the teenager was just beginning to calm down. He felt a little better, in the arms of the man he loved, but it wasn't enough to completely erase his anger, his worries and his guilt.

"I'm sorry..." he murmured suddenly, breaking the silence of the room.

Taehyung frowned, continuing to stroke the boy's hair tenderly, soothingly.

"Why, sweetheart?"

Jungkook pulled away a little, forcing the man to stop his tenderness, mainly because Jungkook was so tired he was sure to fall asleep if he let Taehyung continue.

"For the living room. I've broken everything..."

Taehyung stared at him for a moment, something indecipherable in his eyes, before sighing heavily.

"Darling, you know very well that you don't need to apologise." he replied. "This house is as much yours as mine, everything in it belongs to you. You were right to destroy it."

A pout formed on the teenager's lips. He was having trouble accepting what Taehyung had just told him. Because he knew it was wrong. It wasn't okay. His tantrums, this habit of destroying everything around him when he couldn't control anything, it was a real problem. And he was afraid that one day he'd find himself alone because of it. He'd never managed to make many friends because of his temper, but if the few people he had around him ended up leaving him, he'd never get over it.

He couldn't stop thinking about it. Sometimes, when he found himself alone, alone in the darkness of his room, all his insecurities resurfaced. And the biggest of these was undoubtedly Taehyung. Jungkook was a brat, he knew that himself. He just couldn't manage to control it, to change, to become more mature, calmer. Taehyung had tolerated him for a long time because Jungkook was a child, but now that he was an adult, that was bound to change. Soon Taehyung might not be able to stand him anymore, and he'd end up leaving him.

He felt his stomach knot and his heart clench at the thought. If Taehyung left him, then it would truly be the end of his world. A life without Taehyung was no life for Jungkook. And given his inability to manage his emotions, if that happened, the teenager would surely self-destruct. He needed Taehyung by his side. But every time he threw a tantrum, he felt he was driving a wedge between himself and the man he loved. Every time he threw a tantrum, he felt like a child again, while Taehyung was becoming a more mature and responsible adult.

Taehyung was bound to get bored.

"Sweetie?"

Jungkook looked up at him with lost, tearful eyes. Taehyung didn't know what was going through the boy's mind at that moment, but he was suddenly worried when he saw him like that. He hated seeing the teenager in that state. Where had his fussy little baby gone?

"My love, what is it, hm? What's wrong?"

"N-Nothing..."

Taehyung shook his head.

"I know you're lying. You know you can tell hyungie anything, hm? So tell me, what's making you suffer so much?"

Jungkook didn't want to say anything. Saying his greatest insecurities out loud would be far too shameful. He didn't want Taehyung to know. They had enough problems as it was.

"Hyungie?"

"Hm?"

"Can you kiss me?"

Taehyung was surprised by his request, especially coming from a boy whose voice sounded shy and broken. He felt such pain that his own heart ached. So, to soothe the pain Jungkook seemed to be feeling, he slowly leaned in and pressed his lips against Jungkook's soft, luscious ones.

The teenager closed his eyes, blindly savouring the kiss. Taehyung kissed him so tenderly, as if he were made of porcelain, as if he were so fragile that the slightest sudden movement risked breaking him completely. As if he were the most precious thing in the world. With a simple kiss, Jungkook could feel Taehyung's love.

Taehyung still loved him. That was all that mattered to him.

When they parted, Jungkook immediately buried his face in the back of the man's neck, his scent invading his nostrils giving him a feeling of peace.

"Hyungie, you won't leave me, will you?"

Taehyung's confusion only increased, his eyebrows so furrowed that they were now connected. The news of the engagement had upset Jungkook far more than he had expected. He had to reassure the boy, as much as he could.

"Of course, my love. Even death can never tear us apart."

***

Taehyung dropped heavily into his chair, massaging his shoulders to try and get rid of his aches and pains. He'd had meeting after meeting since this morning, and this was the first time since the start of the day that he'd been able to sit down without one of his employees giving him a progress report on a project. And now that he had some free time, alone in his office, his thoughts immediately went to Jungkook.

He'd gone back to school today, and even though he was doing better than the day before, something was still bothering him. Taehyung couldn't contain a sigh. With all these events, he'd preferred to keep for him the discussion he'd had with his mother the other evening. If Jungkook found out, he knew how it would upset him even more. In any case, he wouldn't let it get to him. He'd sort out all these problems, whether it was his mother or this so-called engagement. Taehyung was the adult, and it was up to him to find solutions, so that Jungkook wouldn't have to worry about anything.

So that he would finally stop suffering.

As if reading his thoughts, his phone began to vibrate. Taehyung reached for it carelessly, and his eyes darkened when he saw that it was his mother. Wouldn't she ever leave him alone? Especially as he suspected why she was calling him. With her, it was never disinterested. She was certainly planning to arrange a meeting with this woman whose name he had forgotten.

He often wondered how his parents had ended up together. His father had come from nothing, setting up this business on his own with the few savings he had made from selling the family farm. His mother came from an average family. Taehyung knew that they were really in love at the time. But while his father had kept his feet on the ground with all the responsibilities of running a big business, the money had surely gone to his mother's head. Now it was all she could think about.

He hung up before he could even think about it. She tried again several times, but the result was always the same. Taehyung didn't want to talk to her, and the message was pretty clear.

Just as he thought she'd finally given up, his mobile vibrated again. But this time it was a message. From an unknown number. Taehyung felt his blood boil when he saw the contents. The message was clear: his mother really did want war. If that's what she wanted, she'd have it. But of the two of them he was the real Kim, and a Kim never lost.

"Hello Taehyung, this is Haneul, we met the other night. Your mother gave me your number. What do you say we go for a drink together, to get to know each other?"
