Jongsu went down the stairs, not in the least surprised when, reaching the living room, he found his mother sitting on the corner of the sofa, her face buried in her hands. She had been like this for four days now. She'd been like this ever since those men took Jungkook away. She had tried to contact Seokjin, but he had never replied. He'd even ended up blocking her number. At least the message was clear: he didn't want to hear from her again. So since then, she'd been moping. In one evening, she had lost two of her sons.

Jongsu approached her, so softly that she didn't seem to hear him, and put a hand on her shoulder. Hyeri gasped, sitting up immediately, and calmed down when she met her son's gaze. It was clear that she was not feeling well: her cheeks had deepened, as had her dark circles, which were worryingly dark. And her skin was so pale...

"Mom, you should get some sleep..."

The woman shook her head frantically.

"No, I can't... I need to... I've got to call Jin... Or John... Yes, I've got to call John..."

Jongsu sighed, his mother was beginning to lose her mind. She really needed some sleep.

"It's no use. Jin won't answer you anyway, and John... You've already tried and it was the same. You should be resting... If Dad sees you like this, he'll be worried."

That wasn't entirely true. Yes, he'd probably worry if he saw her like that, but it was unlikely to happen, since the man hadn't been home for several days. While Hyeri moped around here on her sofa, Jungyung had decided to lock himself away at work to fight his guilt.

From the look on Hyeri's face, she too knew it was a lie. Her husband wasn't coming home tonight either, and they both knew it.

At the same moment, someone rang the doorbell. Neither of them moved, Hyeri not caring. Jongsu, however, frowned. Who could be visiting them? Their family hadn't had much contact with the outside world recently, so he wondered.

He hesitated to open the door to see who it was, but he didn't have time to think about it for long, as the front door opened by itself, closing with a loud bang.

"What the fuck..." he muttered.

He rushed towards the entrance to see who the intruder was, but didn't have time to leave the living room, finding himself face to face with a young man taller than him.

"J-Jin hyung...?"

Jin gave him a quick glance, before scanning the living room, finally stopping on Hyeri. Jin didn't look particularly happy to be there, and when he saw his mother, a grimace of disgust even formed on his face.

"I'm here to see Mom. I've got something to tell her."

On hearing her eldest son's voice, the woman turned round immediately, her eyes widening as she caught sight of him at the entrance to the living room. She didn't hesitate for a moment, rising quickly to her feet and almost throwing herself at him.

"My son!"

She wanted to take him in her arms, but he stopped her by placing a hand in front of him.

"Don't get carried away, I'm not here because I want to be."

This had the effect of calming her down, to say the least. The disappointment was clearly visible on her face.

"O-Oh... I... Okay... So..."

Jin sighed.

"I won't stay long. I just wanted to tell you that Jungkook's back."

This news had the effect of a bomb. Hyeri and Jongsu widened their eyes at the same time.

"What?"

"John has called off the engagement again. He's gone back to the States, without Jungkook."

"Y-You can't do that... When Lim finds out, he'll-"

"Who cares?" Jin cut her off. "Bangtan had no intention of letting him marry John anyway. We'll find a way of sorting this out, and then..."

He paused, looking into his mother's confused eyes.

"Jungkook and I will cut all ties with this family for good. We'll both become Kims, and we'll be done with the Jeons."

Hyeri wanted to reply, but Jin wouldn't let her. He didn't want to hear what she had to say. He'd come here because he thought she at least had the right to know. Because she was still their mother. But that was the end of it. He didn't want to have any more contact with her. He simply nodded goodbye to his brother and left the house, ignoring Hyeri's cries for him to come back.

Barely an hour later, by the time he'd calmed his mother down and finally managed to get her into bed, Jongsu left the house, waiting until he was alone in his car, several kilometres from home, before suddenly bursting into howls of rage, banging the steering wheel hysterically.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" he shouted, his face contorted in anger. "It wasn't supposed to be like this! Why the fuck did he come back?!"

The young man quickly grabbed his mobile and pressed a contact before bringing the object up to his ear. He waited a few seconds, then the person picked up.

"What?" he asked.

Jongsu gritted his teeth.

"What? Seriously?! Your son went back to New York alone! He left my fucking brother in Seoul!"

He heard a sigh at the other end of the line.

"Something came up. I'll sort it out, so don't talk to me like that, kid."

"Bullshit! You fucked up, that wasn't what we agreed! Now that Kim's got Jungkook back, he won't let him go!"

The boy slammed the steering wheel again, unable to contain his anger.

"You were supposed to get rid of my brother, and now he's going to cause me even more problems than before!"

The man didn't reply, and Jongsu took the opportunity to take a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He mustn't panic, this was clearly not the time.

"You have to respect our agreement, Lim. Get rid of Jungkook, whatever it takes. I don't care if he dies or has to end his life in chains. I want him gone."

Another sigh.

"As you wish. I'm going to get on with it, so now leave me alone."

Lim hung up and Jongsu threw his phone into the passenger seat. Even away from him, Jungkook was still causing him problems. He'd always known John was mentally weak, but he thought his father's fear would be enough to keep him on their side. He'd been wrong. Jungkook had managed to foil one of his plans again. Jungkook had always been like that. Jongsu had to use all his assets to charm someone, Jungkook just had to be himself. Even though he was a complete asshole to John, the man had fallen for him.

It was so unfair.

"I'm going to kill you, Jeon Jungkook."
