Chicago

Liv looked out the window of her new apartment in Chicago, silently thanking Ellie for pushing her to leave LA. It had only taken a few days for her to come around to the idea, and now, she couldn't be more grateful for the change.

Her manager, Ally, had been skeptical at first, but eventually realized this could be exactly what Liv needed. A chance to recharge, refocus, and come back stronger than ever.

Surprisingly, it was working better than anyone had anticipated. Liv felt a sense of peace she hadn't experienced in years. Her days were filled with writing lyrics, exploring her new neighborhood incognito, and simply relaxing away from the relentless gaze of the media.

The bustling city below felt worlds away from the Hollywood hills, and Liv reveled in her newfound anonymity. Here, she was just another face in the crowd, not a headline waiting to happen.

As she sipped her morning coffee, Liv allowed herself a small smile. For the first time in a long while, she felt like herself again – not Liv Rose the pop star, but just Liv, a young woman with dreams and a pen.

"We have such a strange yet constant routine, don't we?" Ellie's voice cut through the silence, tinged with amusement. "You wake up at the crack of dawn, do your zen thing, and then by 10:30, you're staring into the abyss. And that's when I drag myself out of bed to find you communing with the cityscape. I dig this life."

Liv turned, a small smile playing on her lips. "What I'm hearing is that you should wake up earlier so we can actually sync our routines."

Ellie dramatically flopped onto the plush sofa, her wild curls bouncing. "Boring! The beauty of working from home is doing whatever, whenever. No offense, but I can't fathom your seven AM starts."

As they bantered, Liv's phone buzzed insistently. She glanced at the caller ID and sighed before silencing it.

"Ally again?" Ellie asked, knowing the manager was likely growing gray hairs with each day Liv remained out of LA.

"Actually, it's my mother," Liv replied, setting the phone face-down. "I think Ally finally got the hint about the break. Though I suspect she believes this exile will drive me back to LA and into a recording studio faster."

"What does your mom want?"

Liv's shoulders tensed slightly. "She wants me home. Says I'm running from my problems and should be leaning on family instead. But I'm not running, am I? I'm just... removing myself from an uncomfortable situation."
