Jab, thwack, uppercut, thwack, another jab, thwack....
I breathed in heavily and exhaled sharply with every blow I gave to the dark colored punching bag. I was bouncing slightly on my toes as beads of my sweat dripped steadily from my forehead onto the floor. My silver cross necklace bouncing with every step. I had music blaring from my headphones to the max volume as I tried to drown out the thoughts that began to come about. I could feel the bruises beginning to form under my tape and gloves from how long I've been hitting the bag. I've been here for hours. Just hitting and hitting the bag, but no matter how long I hit, punched, and kicked, the anger and sadness never subsided.

The gym is where I go when I'm angry at the world, or anything really and I'm sure as hell angry right now. Very angry might I add.

I could only think about her. Her smile. Her laugh. Her touch. How wonderful she was to me. The inside jokes we shared. How we risked our lives for each other. How much I loved her. I sped up my hits and thrusts at the bag, hitting it harder than before. I gritted my teeth, clenched my jaw, my hands sweaty and knuckles turning white. I hit the bag with a final thwack! before I grunted in anger and threw my black boxing gloves she had given me to the dull grey concrete floor. Struggling to catch my breath and my throat parched, I picked up my gloves quickly before moving to my duffel bag stuffing everything in and taking off my tape quickly.

I checked my phone, it was small and had multiple cracks among the screen. I turned the phone on to check the time, 8:52 p.m. Before I clicked off my phone I glanced at the wallpaper a little longer than usual.

It was a picture of me and Annabeth from last summer before our argument. In the picture Annabeth was on my back as I was holding her. We were about to fall with enormous smiles on our faces, both of us having a light flush on our faces from the goofiness. Percy was also seen in the picture with a panicked look on his face, trying to catch us before we fell.

"Shit, I've been here longer then I thought..." I muttered.

I brought up the bottom of my shirt to wipe off the rest of my sweat resting on my forehead and quickly slung my bag over my shoulder walking fairly quickly out of the gym. I just couldn't be thinking about her again.

I brought out my notebook that was given to me by Annabeth. It was a dark brown leather bound book with wrinkled pages held together by small brown ropes. She made it herself for me. She had always told me that my anger issues and feelings would get the best of me. She had given me this notebook as a way to express my feelings. I looked up at the sky and sighed. The sky was gloomy with dark clouds, covering the sun, giving a dark atmosphere in the New York area. Maybe for once I should listen to Annabeth...

I was eight again. Luke, me, Annabeth, and Thalia was running from the two harpies that was gaining quickly on our tail. A harpy was about to pierce Annabeth, but I was quick to react and I threw my celestial bronze knife Luke had given me at the harpy, giving us more time. What I had failed to notice was the other harpy who clawed my arm as I threw the knife. I yelled in agony as Annabeth yelled my name.

"Mari!" Annabeth tried to move to me to fight off the harpy herself.

Thalia saw what had happened and quickly parried the harpy's claw, pushing Annabeth out of ways harm.

"Luke! Take Annabeth to the camp by the south! Me and Mari will handle these two!"

Luke hesitated before grabbing Annabeth's hand dragging her away.

Me and Thalia grinned at each other before she tossed me an extra dagger she had.

~~~~
"What the actual fuck Annie-!" I hissed in pain with my teeth clenched and jaw tight. I quickly pulled my arm away hissing in pain from the rubbing alcohol she put on my clawed arm wound.
Annabeth quickly pulled my arm back glaring at me in the process.
"You're the one who let this happen to you idiot! I tell you all the time to be more careful." Annabeth retorted, punching my shoulder in the process.
I grinned widely "aww the braniac actually cares about me." I said with fake shock falling backward and hitting my head.
"Ah- fuck!" I rubbed my head in pain.
Annabeth snickered and laughed at me smiling. "I told you to be more careful."
~~~~

"Damn...she always was right wasn't she?" I said to myself sighing deeply and running my hand through my hair anxiously.

I opened my notebook to the first page and decided to start from the very beginning.

A/N here:
How do we like the introduction so far? Comment any feedback or thoughts, criticism is well appreciated. This is my first book/fanfic ever so bear with me on any mistakes I may do.

TW for this book in general: Alcohol, language, mature topics, blood, death.

I'll try to update as much as I can, but I'm a busy person what can I say 😔.

I don't own any of the Percy Jackson series characters or plot, I will add some of my own spin on plots and some new characters ex: Mariposa, but that is all. The rest belongs to Rick.

P.S. these squiggly lines ~~~~ mean a flashback is happening. Throughout the story flashbacks will happen so y'all are caught up on Mariposa's backstory.

Anywho I hope you enjoy the story! Tell me how's your day been too while your at it 😁.
