Six years later
-June 2006-
Everything around me was burning in a bright red fire everywhere. I could feel the heat burning with excruciating pain on my skin as I watched wide eyed, frozen at the surrounding scene. I stumbled back and fell to the ground, backing away from the pure destruction that was taking place. I could see many battles everywhere, all ending in the bloodshed of children who seemed to be around my age. They carried swords, spears, and shields to defend themselves at the creatures who appeared from everywhere. It had to be a war.
The first thing I heard were screams. Terrified screams of children, parents, adults, and friends. Buildings were crumbling and people were running in no certain direction, but seemed to only want to get away from one place.
A manic laugh pierced through the air, a laugh that seemed so familiar, but so very, very different. My head whipped towards the sound in fear of what it could be. I thought I couldn't recognize who the person was, but I did.
Because the person was me.
I had a psychotic expression on my face, my eyes were wide and crazed. My usual kind and caring honey gold eyes were golden yellow, glowing. It didn't hold any thought besides pure wrath and anger. My smile was so deranged it made me shrink back in fear. I was older. I could tell by how I was taller, stronger, and more muscular, my age showing through my appearance. My face was more chiseled and sharp unlike my own, which was still young and held hope.
I watched and couldn't believe what I was seeing, this monster couldn't be me.
She cut through demigods and monsters alike, not caring for who was who. Bloodlust oozed from her, she was an unleashed beast that was willing to kill anyone in the way. She had black wings that curled around her and helped her slay anyone that came in her vicinity. She cut through with a short curved sword in one hand and a trident that only had two prongs on it, in the other. Both weapons were of the color black, so dark that it almost felt like the shadows around her were being absorbed into the weapons. Humans and monsters alike shrunk and screamed in fear at her weapons and her.
A new voice could be heard and yelled at the crazy me.
"Mari, you can't do this, think about her!"
My eyes flickered in remembrance at the voice, my glowing irises dimming just a little bit. As if it never happened, my eyes changed and the wicked expression came back.
It was Percy shouting at me. He was unscathed and huffing, out of breath. He glowed and radiated with power, he looked older as well. More mature and taller than before. He was holding a celestial bronze sword in one hand and looked desperate, as if he was losing hope.
I only stared back at him with my golden orbs, smiling with cruelty at him. I didn't answer, as I sped towards him in an extreme amount of speed because of my wings. We clashed swords and bounced back from each other from the force of power.
What happened next was a flash. Clashes of black and bronze were everywhere, so fast that my eyes couldn't catch up. I could only assume Percy and I were fighting.
The clashing of weapons ended abruptly when Percy flew back into a building that crumbled from his impact. Surprisingly, he wasn't injured, but still in a moment of shock from the amount of force he took. I took that to my advantage as I pounced on him, trapping him with my knee to his back and holding his arms in a solid grip. I kicked away his sword and held my bident to his neck. I watched in horror as I pulled back my arm to strike at him.
