Chiron tilted his head. "And so you came here and waited four hours to tell me that Annabeth had done something?" Their small group nodded.
"We thought you might like to know," Jason said.
"Sorry for making you all wait four hours; why didn't you go to your cabins?"
In reality, Piper had been the one to tell them not to, but that was just her trying to sail her ship.
Clarisse had agreed, although on the logic that Percy shouldn't be left alone in his current mental state, and Jason found it reasonable enough to stick around.
"Percy, why don't you start?"
"I... okay..." he mumbled quietly. "She came up next to me and told me off for using too much syrup... Then when I took a bite it tasted like Phlegethon water."
The rest looked back at him blankly, waiting for him to continue. His lips remained shut, and his eyes remained trained on the ground. Under the table, where no one could see, Leo's hand fell on his knee, and he could feel the scrapes, the scars, the imperfections on his skin. One glance at Percy and he could tell that he wouldn't continue, so he did for him.
"Then she begins laughing at him because she told the cooks to make the blue pancakes spicy, but in actuality..." He didn't go on, because Chiron had a look on his face like he already knew.
"In actuality, they had put Phlegethon water in. However, I don't see how this is Annabeth's doing."
Clarisse rolled her eyes. "If you'd let us finish, she specifically paid the cooks to add Phlegethon water. They said it was really expensive."
At this, Chiron's face darkened. "She intentionally put reminders of The Pit in his food?"
He didn't want to believe it, but when everyone around him nodded, there was no denying it. "Where's Annabeth at the moment?"
Piper shrugged. "We were waiting here, we don't know." Or rather, her ship was sailing and she was too busy trying to keep it afloat to notice any wise idiots wandering around, disrupting it.
She hadn't even dared tell the rest of the Aphrodite cabin her secret pairing because they were all suckers for the so-called 'Percabeth' ship.
There was another weird thing about her cabin; they actually made up names for their ships. Like, what the heck? If so, though, hers would be 'Perleo'. Weird, but she could roll with it.
Chiron nodded. "I'll take care of this. Thank you for reporting this to me. Leo, why don't you take Percy to the infirmary?"
He looked up at the sound of his name. "Why do I have to go to the infirmary?"
He knew the answer, of course. The nightmares that had plagued him for months after The Pit were returning stronger than ever.
Maybe it's because I don't have Annabeth at my side. Immediately, though, he shook off that thought. Not because it was untrue, but because it might give him another reason to go to the infirmary.
"Because you're obviously having Tartarus flashbacks, prissy!"
Percy pinked. He hadn't realized it was that obvious... But everywhere he looked, there were people feeling sorry for him. They didn't quite look at him, but he could feel the weight of their stares as he headed to the infirmary.
Falling. They would've died if they hadn't fallen into the river. They fell for so long. He could've gotten them out of there. Percy's fault.
Something tapped on his wrist in a very specific pattern. Morse code. He remembered... her... teaching him it once. Looking over, it was Leo.
