Jake was surprised of what just came out of Heeseung's mouth. Memories of what happened a few years prior had crossed his mind. He had wondered how Heeseung was handling everything. Especially when his ex had just came back into his life.
Jake leans forward onto the table debating to ask or not. "How are you handling seeing your ex? I mean it's been a long time. But are you going to be okay seeing her for a while?" He didn't dare say her name despite it felt bitter on his tongue. Jake didn't want to see Heeseung go down that dark path again. And he blames it on Yumi.
Heeseung furrowed his brows glancing at his friend.
"I mean it was quite a shock, considering that we had gone our separate ways and never once crossed paths, until today. At first it was awkward, but it also stirred some mixed feelings when seeing Yumi. I can't explain it since my memory is fuzzy still. Neither of our managers had mentioned who the actors were going to be. And when she walked in I couldn't believe my eyes. At first I didn't want to do it with her, but I had already discussed it with my manager and she was also standing there. So I couldn't say no then. I am going to be doing it for a while since it's to help both of our careers out. It's a big step in my career and I hope there are no inconveniences that come with it". Heeseung hoped that this would help boost his career as an actor.
Jake crosses his arms over his chest with a frown. "I don't think this is a good idea. You both ended on bad terms. And she has a horrible record right now. If you are seen publicly with her, it's going to hurt you in the long run especially your new stardom to fame. I don't like that girl and she is going to take you down with her. What if this is her evil plot of taking you down? I get that you both have history, but Yumi is going to hurt you Heeseung. And I can't stand to see that a second time. The first was hard enough. You should call your manager and tell him that you withdraw from the contract". Jake spoke his tone filled with seriousness.
Heeseung could tell that his friend was looking out for him and he appreciated his concern, but this was his choice. "You seen way too many movies Jake. How can you not like her? You used to be friends with Yumi in school. There is no evil plot set up against me. And Yumi won't hurt me, I won't let it happen. Besides what happened in the past is behind us. That day her and I had our fight, it was the day that changed for us. I didn't want things to end but our careers got in the way of it. Besides those rumors aren't true, you can't always believe what the tabloids say. And I am not ending the contract. I am going to see this through and hope that we can get along".
Jake sighs not liking this one bit. It was obvious that Heeseung couldn't remember their last moment together and what had actually happened. "I was friends with her in high school, but people grow up and lose friends. It's natural. I am just saying this as a friend, but this isn't a good idea for your career Heeseung. Don't say I didn't warn you if things start to fall apart or if you get hurt". With that Jake stood up grabbing his plate and washing it off.
Heeseung watches his friend confused. "Why don't you think it's a good idea? You think I am going to get hurt again? Or ruin my career? If that is the case then, you should trust me and that I will be fine". Heeseung tried to reason with Jake. Jake turns around feeling a rush of sadness come over him like a lightning bolt.
"I fear you getting hurt just like last time. When you were lying in the hospital, I was there after the aftermath when you couldn't remember and got your heart broken. I watched you fall into a deep depression after you broke up. At one point you nearly killed yourself due to the accident and medication. Every time Yumi is around you, something bad always happens. So yes, I fear you getting hurt Heeseung. This publicity stunt is not a good idea". Jake was upset at the fact that Heeseung couldn't realize what she has done to him.
Heeseung stood up from the table feeling a bit agitated. "That isn't for you to decide Jake. If this isn't right for my career then let it be. I may not know all the details of the accident, but it wasn't Yumi's fault. I may not be the same Heeseung as before, but I am still me. So please quit meddling in my issues". With that Heeseung walks away. Heeseung slips on his shoes and a ball cap before slamming the front door.
Heeseung stumbles upon a crowd instantly pulling his cap down lower over his eyes. He didn't want his fans spotting him. Last time he was in a crowd, the fans attacked him. He brushes past people hearing the conversations around him. Heeseung glances around before finding a gap up ahead.
He sighs as he makes his way towards the gap between people. His anxiety was starting to get to him. He could feel eyes on him as people realized it was him.
"Hey, isn't that Lee Heeseung?" A girl asks her friend. The girl turns around nodding to clarify. Heeseung looks back regretting looking as the girls begin to follow. Heeseung takes off walking faster as the girls were hot on his heels. Not wanting to get attacked again, Heeseung breaks into a sprint.
Heeseung ran for several blocks before finally stopping. He turns to look only to realize that the girls had quit following. Heeseung heaves a sigh glancing around him. He then takes in the view noticing that he had never been here before. Heeseung's phone begins to ring taking him out of his trance.
Looking at the caller ID, Heeseung sighs before answering it. "Listen Jake, I just need a bit to get some fresh air. I will be back in a bit". Heeseung reassures his friend. On the other line he could hear Jake driving. "Where are you?" Jake asks. "I'm currently downtown. You don't need to find me Jake. I am fine". "I'm on my way. It's too dangerous". Jake said as he looks for Heeseung. "I know you're trying to look out for me, but I just need space". Heeseung revealed.
All of a sudden Heeseung was shoved from behind and into traffic. Horns blared as Heeseung lies in the road. He tries grabbing his phone, but it was too far away. The strange man walks over and crushes it with his foot. "Not a smart idea". The man spoke. Heeseung looks up at the man horrified. Who was this guy?
Heeseung tried getting up, but a shooting pain ripped through his right ankle. Heeseung collapses clutching his injured ankle.
"Who are you?" Heeseung asks trying to scramble away. The man chuckles following Heeseung's movements. Heeseung crawls but also keeps looking at the oncoming traffic. He was getting too close to the other lane. The man squats down now eye level with Heeseung.
"I am guessing that you don't remember me? Well it's been a long time since then. Who am I, you ask? Guess you will just have to find out. From now on don't make any wrong moves. Or you will pay the price. And don't go to the police about this, or there will be consequences. You don't want that do you?" He threatens. Heeseung looks up at the man feeling terrified and helpless.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Heeseung asks trying to remember every detail. The man stands up before looking around. "Soon enough you will remember me and my name". With that the strange man walks away leaving Heeseung terrified.
A car light blinded Heeseung as the car quickly approaches blaring its horn. Heeseung tried to move but his body was stricken with fear. He plugs his ears as the ringing became unbearable. The car quickly swerves but cusses at Heeseung to move.
Heeseung crawls towards the sidewalk, slowly making his way. But the shooting pain in his ankle causes him to collapse on the side of the road. Heeseung clutches his ears as the ringing became nearly impossible to ignore. It was so deafening loud. A car pulls up alongside the curb before the driver quickly gets out.
He rushes towards Heeseung before squatting down beside him.
"Hey, what happened? Are you hurt anywhere?" Jake asks looking Heeseung over. A sad look crosses over Jake's face as Heeseung clutches his right ear.
Heeseung tried opening his mouth but no words come out. "Come on let's get you to the car". Jake asks coaxing him. Heeseung stands up with the help of Jake. But his right ankle quickly gives out. Heeseung collapses against Jake as his ankle gives out on him. Through blurry vision Heeseung looks up at Jake with unfocused eyes. His head was swimming and he felt like he could fall over. Heeseung could see Jake's lips moving, but no words could be heard. Heeseung shakes his head trying to focus.
"I-I don't feel so hot. I think I am about to. . . Heeseung didn't get to finish his sentence as he collapses. Jake caught Heeseung in his arms feeling panicked.
"Yah, Heeseung, hey wake up". Jake said tapping his cheek but got no response.

FanfictionIt's all just a publicity stunt. Both Heeseung and Yumi know this. And they are both good actors. Perhaps a little too believable by the public. Or is it fake after all? And perhaps it's fates way of trying to bring them together.
