Chapter Seven

"What are you doing here Yumi? Jake asks approaching Yumi. Yumi stumbles almost tripping on the chair. She glances back at Heeseung, who was still asleep.

The look on Jake's face nearly made her want to run out of there. "I was supposed to have a meeting with Heeseung and his manager but I wasn't told it was canceled. So when I spoke to his manager, he told me everything. And immediately I rushed here as soon as I could. I know I am not supposed to see him, but I wanted to make sure that Heeseung was okay. Look, I know that you don't like me, but I had to see for myself about Heeseung. You don't have to tell him that I visited". Yumi felt a little relieved that she saw Heeseung. It calmed down her worried mind.

Jake crosses his arm biting his lip in the process. He fought back his anger as he didn't want to disturb his friend. "Since you saw Heeseung, you may leave". Jake said pointing towards the door. Yumi sighed. She wanted to tell Jake what had actually happened a few years ago, but she was never given the chance. Let alone that it was too difficult to speak of. Of course Jake just took Heeseung's family side, and neglected her side of the story. "Look, I know that you aren't fond of me and that you despise the fact that Heeseung and I are going to be working together. I assure you that I won't hurt Heeseung. You have my word. You can take your frustration out on me, but not Heeseung. We didn't even know that we were going to be working together. But at the least I hope we can try to get along". Yumi wanted to make things right and clear her name of any wrongdoing in the past.

Jake sighed running a hand through his hair. He had dark circles under his eyes. "Let's talk outside". Jake responded. Both Jake and Yumi make their way out of Heeseung's room.

Jake quietly closes the door behind him as to not wake Heeseung. "What is there to say? It's clear that I don't like you. If it weren't for you, Heeseung wouldn't have gotten hurt in the first place. I dislike you guys working together because of your scandals. I fear that you will take Heeseung down with you in the process. Then how will you protect Heeseung if his career goes down the drain? Will you take responsibility for it? You and I both know that you two working together will be a disaster. Why you of all people? There are many other actresses who could have chose this part. It's bad enough that he got tangled in your webb a few years ago. If something happens to Heeseung, I won't forgive you easily". Jake let out his frustration.

Yumi felt hurt by his words, but deep down knew why he felt that way. She was guilty for letting Heeseung get hurt. That part was true. But she had no control of what happened that night. "Believe me, I know I live with the guilt every day that Heeseung got hurt. I wish it were me who got hurt not Heeseung. But do you honestly know how Heeseung got injured in the first place? Right you wouldn't know since you never listened to me or wanted to from the beginning. You always took his side of the family's story. But you never bothered to listen to mine. You weren't there witnessing what had actually happened. Heeseung and I had an argument that night. I felt the house out of frustration since I needed fresh air. As I walked around the neighborhood, I could feel myself being followed. I tried calling Heeseung numerous times, but to no avail. So, out of fear I ran faster. That was my first mistake. All of a sudden from behind I was suddenly attacked by being hit on the head. I fell to the ground screaming in agony and begging for help. But no one came. I fought back and endured the pain the best I could, but the guy overpowered me. He then began. . . To take advantage of me by dragging me into the alley. It went on for what felt like eternity. The guy even brought out a knife and began to threaten me with it if I didn't comply. Then all of a sudden Heeseung appears in front of me. When the man was about to strike Heeseung got on top of me and took the hit. I tried intervening but I physically couldn't move due to the pain. They both had scuffled for a bit until the mad man hit Heeseung with a brick. After that is a blur. That night was the worst night of my life because, I lost Heeseung, the man that I loved". By now Yumi was in tears. Jake looks at her completely silent mixed with emotions. No one had bothered to tell him the truth until now.
