Charles was already in the hallway when Erik entered.
Both tributes stared at each other with no color in their faces.
Erik examined Charles; he was no longer the skinny boy who saved his life.
Charles had grown.
His russet hair was shaggy almost down to his shoulders and his eyes looked tired.
His arms had small muscles and scars were on his hands, probably hunting with Katniss, the girl who gave the Mellark family meat.
The most noticeable trait was that Charles looked frightened; I hope he doesn’t think I’m going to be the first one to kill him thought Erik.
Charles read Erik’s mind and calmed down, At least Erik is agreeing not to kill me…yet. The tributes said nothing but keep their distance and stare at their feet.
The uneasiness ended when Effie, with her never ending happy tone, took the tributes to their car. Charles sat on the right, Effie in the middle, and Erik on the left. The only one talking was Effie who was commenting on how ‘amazing’ the Club is.
Charles stared at the window, he didn’t want to look at Erik but the reflection from the window wasn’t helping.
Charles sighed and faced Erik who was staring down.
While Effie was rambling, Charles slowly placed two fingers on his temple and communicated telepathically “Do you remember?”
Erik’s eyes widened and faced Charles.
Charles kept his gaze and asked again, “Do you remember?”
Erik nodded.
Charles nodded too and turned around looking at his knees.
I'm afraid I have to kill him, he'll be an easy one
Charles couldn’t believe it. He clenched his fist and stared at the window where he saw the reflection of Erik.
Erik can't be serious. Charles saved his life and now Erik won't try to help him.
Fine.
Charles is the only family Katniss and Gale have, the Mellark Family has an aunt.
I guess I'll have to kill him first.
...
But I don't know if I can
