Chapter II - Watching & Wounded

The pain from the knife was still sore, but less agonizing now that you'd given it some rest.

Husk had pulled you aside from the battlefield, carrying you up to your room.

Everyone in the hotel waited around at your bedside, watching you attentively.

You finally sat up and rubbed your eyes, only to be tackled by Charlie in a tight hug.

"Oof!" you grunted. "Hey...what's going on?" you asked Charlie, but not before returning her hug.

"You...saved me!!" she said graciously, still soaked in angelic blood.

You smiled. "Eh, don't mention it." You shrugged. "It's no big deal, though. That's what friends are for, aren't they?"

Charlie broke the hug and kissed your sweaty forehead.

"Ewwww," you joked. Charlie rolled her eyes.

"How's your shoulder?" the princess asked.

You looked down at your injury, seeing it was still pretty bad and bloody.

"Not too bad," you said, pulling the blanket over the wound. Which was half-true.

Charlie raised her eyebrows. "Really? All fine and dandy?"

"...yeah."

Charlie nudged you in the chest with her elbow. "I don't believe you." She laughed.

You laughed with her. "It's as painful as you'd think it'd be," you said truthfully.

You glanced back down at your injury.

You heard someone gag.

"Oh fuck...that looks disgusting..." Angel said from the corner of your room.

You rolled your eyes. "No shit."

Angel walked over to you, holding his hands over his mouth. Charlie slapped his arm.

"Be nice!" she mouthed.

Angel held his hands up defensively. "I'm just being honest, toots."

"Hey, don't get too mad at Angel. I mean, look at it. It's pretty fucking disgusting," you laughed, in attempt to lighten the mood a bit.

Charlie managed a small giggle. "Yeah..."

"Makes me want to throw myself off the balcony!" Angel declared.

"Okay..."

"Makes me want to chop my head off and feed it to a baby!"

"Alrig-"

"Makes me want to kill my entire family!"

"Ang-"

"Makes me want to-"

"Chill!" Charlie told him sternly.

You started to laugh. Angel joined in. Charlie rolled her eyes playfully and the three of you sat there, not knowing exactly what was so funny —but whatever it was, it was fucking hilarious.
