One evening, as Taehyung was preparing to leave the office, he noticed Jisoo still at her desk, immersed in her work. He walked over and gently tapped on her desk, causing her to look up in surprise.
"Still working?" he asked with a soft smile.
"Yes, just finishing up some reports," Jisoo replied, returning the smile. "Do you need something, sir?"
"Actually, I was wondering if you'd like to grab dinner. It's been a long day, and I thought it might be nice to unwind a bit."
Jisoo hesitated for a moment, her mind racing. She had noticed Taehyung's subtle glances and felt the growing tension between them. However, she was still unsure about her own feelings and didn't want to complicate their professional relationship.
"That sounds nice, but I have some things to finish here," Jisoo replied, trying to keep her tone light.
Taehyung nodded, masking his disappointment. "Alright, maybe another time then."
As he turned to leave, Jisoo felt a pang of guilt. She didn't want to hurt him or push him away, but she needed time to sort out her feelings. She watched him walk away, feeling a mix of relief and sadness.
The next day, Taehyung decided to give Jisoo some space. He kept their interactions strictly professional, though his mind constantly wandered back to her. Meanwhile, Jisoo found herself missing his presence, the easy conversations, and the warmth of his smile.
Later that week, an important meeting required both of them to work late into the evening. As they wrapped up the final details, Jisoo's stomach growled, breaking the silence and causing both of them to laugh.
"Looks like we both need to eat," Taehyung said, smiling. "How about we order some takeout and finish up here?"
Jisoo agreed, and they soon found themselves sitting at the conference table, sharing a meal. The conversation flowed easily, and the tension that had been building between them seemed to dissipate.
"Thank you for all your hard work," Taehyung said, looking at Jisoo with genuine appreciation. "I couldn't have done this without you."
Jisoo felt her cheeks warm at his words. "It's my job, and I enjoy working with you. You're a great boss."
Taehyung's heart skipped a beat at her compliment. He decided to take a chance. "Jisoo, I know we've been keeping things professional, but I can't ignore how I feel. I like you, more than just as my PA."
Jisoo looked at him, her eyes wide with surprise. She had sensed his feelings but hearing him say it out loud made her heart race. She took a deep breath, trying to gather her thoughts.
"Taehyung, I... I don't know what to say. I value our professional relationship, and I'm not sure I'm ready for anything more."
Taehyung nodded, though he couldn't hide the disappointment in his eyes. "I understand. I don't want to pressure you. Let's take things one step at a time."
Jisoo appreciated his understanding. "Thank you, Taehyung. Let's just see how things go."
They finished their meal, a comfortable silence settling between them. Though the future was uncertain, they both knew that their connection was undeniable. As they continued to work together, they navigated their feelings, slowly building a foundation of trust and respect.
