The soft hum of the office printers filled the air as Taehyung leaned back in his chair, trying to focus on the proposal in front of him. His mind, however, kept drifting back to the unexpected encounter earlier that day.

Seo Yeji's arrival had been as sudden as it was unsettling. She had strolled into the office with that confident stride he remembered so well, her presence drawing immediate attention. Taehyung couldn't deny the rush of mixed emotions that surged within him upon seeing her again after so long.

"Taehyung, are you listening?"

Jisoo's voice broke through his reverie, and Taehyung blinked, refocusing on his girlfriend sitting across from him. She raised an eyebrow, concern flickering in her eyes.

"Yeah, sorry," Taehyung replied, offering a sheepish smile. "Just lost in thought for a moment."

Jisoo's expression softened as she reached out to touch his hand. "Is everything okay? You seemed distant since this morning."

Taehyung sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's just... seeing Seo Yeji again after all this time. It caught me off guard."

Jisoo nodded, her thumb tracing comforting circles on his palm. "I understand. It must be strange."

"It is," Taehyung admitted. "We had a history, and seeing her again... it brings back memories."

Jisoo squeezed his hand gently. "But that's all it is, right? Memories?"

Taehyung hesitated, conflicted thoughts swirling in his mind. "I don't know, Jisoo. There's a part of me that wonders... if things could have been different."

Jisoo's expression tightened slightly, but she maintained her calm demeanor. "Taehyung, I trust you. I know you care about me."

"I do," Taehyung assured her earnestly, squeezing her hand in return. "You mean a lot to me, Jisoo."

She smiled softly, her eyes searching his. "Then let's focus on us. Whatever happened with Seo Yeji in the past, it's just that— the past. We have something real now."

Taehyung nodded, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. "You're right. I don't want to jeopardize what we have because of history."

Jisoo leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek. "Good. Let's not let this unsettle us. We'll face it together, okay?"

"Okay," Taehyung agreed, grateful for her understanding and support.

As they returned to their work, Taehyung couldn't help but steal glances at Seo Yeji across the office. She was engaged in conversation with a colleague, her laughter ringing faintly through the air. Taehyung felt a twinge of nostalgia but reminded himself of the present— of Jisoo, of their future together.

Later that evening, as Taehyung and Jisoo walked out of the office hand in hand, he knew that while Seo Yeji's return had stirred up old feelings, it had also strengthened his commitment to the woman by his side. Together, they would navigate whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing that their love was worth fighting for.
