Paige“Do you think he actually likes her?”, my tongue pokes out from the side of my mouth, slowly outlining my lips.
I wasn’t an unsure person but he made me uncomfortable, I’ve spent too much time questioning why Jane would like him so much. He was handsome but he claimed Maddy wasn’t his girlfriend but here he was leaning against that car I never see him without, towering over her in what seemed to be a pleasing conversation.
“Geez it sounds like you like him”
“I do not!”, I glance back at her, my arms crossed, “it’s just that….he’s different. He isn’t your type. And why is he always around Maddy? What’s with the markings on his skin? Those are the real questions we should be asking”
“He’s hot and funny an charming, his tats are an added bonus”
“I don’t get it”, I shook my head.
I always pictured the boy Jane would end up with to be tall, handsome, blue eyed with a warm smile, he’d be the sweetest person I’ve ever met and every time they were together I’d question why she changed so much? Why is she so happy? Why does this shade of happiness look so infatuating on my best friend?
Instead what I expected would now be...........…Theo.
I didn’t quite understand her attraction to him no matter how much I tried. He was handsome, had tender soft lips, kind eyes,a physique I had no problem with staring at for an added second and he .......smelt like a man…..
“What are you doing?”
“Helping you out”, I say over my shoulder, my eyes glued to the clear glass window.
He’s been out there since 12 it was 12:25 now. You know for a girl he claimed wasn’t his girlfriend he surely had a lot to talk to her about. He wore a soft smile today as opposed to the night before, a gray shirt clinged to his body as black jeans covered his legs, his words whatever they were seemed to make Maddy smile every second.
What were they even talking about?
“Your staring too much Paige”
“Jesus”, I exhaled, my chest heaving as I hid behind the wall, his gaze had shifted to the glass window, a puzzled expression sitting in his eyes the second our eyes met.
“He caught you?”
“Yes, is he still staring”
“Uh no”, Jane answered with a fry plucked between her lips.
I peaked out from my corner shifting my gaze to the gray eyed boy leaning against his car only to find his face tipped to the side and his lips curved into a half smile.
“Dang it Jane, he saw me”
“Yeah I know I just wanted your future brother-in-law to see his sis”
I shut my eyes, focusing on my breath that somehow grew heavy during my ……..sight seeing.
“Paige?”
An eye popped open to face a tall blond boy with indigo blue eyes and a warm smile.
“Oh hi”, I padded in the farthest direction of the boy, rounding the table so as to stay far from the window I shook his hand, returning my palms to my sides.
“Your my tour guide right?”
“Yes you must be Avery”, he nodded.
“Who transfers to a new school in the middle of the term?”
