We approached his apartment and made it to the parking lot. What a night, I thought as I let out a deep breath. Naruto put the car in park, and we had arrived. I scanned the dark parking lot and spotted my car a few spaces down.
I looked over at Naruto and saw that he was already looking at me, his eyes reflecting the faint glow of the streetlights. I parted my lips to speak.
"Thanks for tonight," I told him, trying to sound genuine. He smiled warmly.
"Of course. Did you have fun? Like, overall? I know towards the end it got a little," he smirked. "Yeah."
"Uh, yeah, it was cool," I lied, my voice not quite matching my words. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, I'll admit. But my mind isn't over what we did in that bedroom... I think I need a little space to think...
Naruto let out a small laugh, shaking his head.
"You hated it," he guessed, his smile widening.
"It was fine, seriously. I'd do it again," I insisted, but my voice wavered slightly.
"Just to make me happy?" he asked, a small, knowing smile appearing on his face. I glanced away, feeling a bit embarrassed, am I really that easy to read? I didn't say anything, and to that, he let out another laugh, the sound light and easy.
"I appreciate that you tried," he said sincerely, reaching over to pat my shoulder. The feeling made me tense.
I simply nodded.
We sat in silence for a moment, the engine ticking as it cooled. I glanced at my car again.
"Well, I should get going," I said, reaching for the door handle.
"Wait," Naruto said, a note of genuine surprise in his voice. "You're not going to spend the night?"
I paused, my hand on the door handle, and looked back at him. "Spend the night?"
"Yeah," he continued, leaning slightly towards me. "I thought maybe you'd stay over. We could hang out more, watch a movie or something."
I hesitated, the idea both tempting and nerve-wracking. "I don't know, Naruto. I didn't bring any of my stuff."
He shrugged, a playful smile on his lips. "So? I've got plenty of spare clothes and you have your own tooth brush. Come on, it'll be fun."
I bit my lip, thinking it over. The idea of spending more time with him was appealing, but my anxiety was already tugging at me. Hell we almost kissed tonight and he still wants to be near me?
"Are you sure?"
"Of course I'm sure," he said, his tone leaving no room for doubt. "It's late. Besides, I owe you for dragging you to that party."
