It had been a cozy couple of days of Mike and Will situating in that small, safe bunker. Lucy and William's hospitality towards the boys definitely helped them to stay calm, especially when they had seen a demogorgon on a trip to the forest a few days ago. The monsters had slowly been approaching their area.

William had been sleeping on the matteress, as it was quite early in the morning, and Lucy had been reading the newspaper on the loveseat. Will sat on the stone floor, hunched over sprawled papers and color pencils, as he created some pieces. Mike paced around the small area as he could, forming a plan in his mind.

He came to a halt. "Will."

He looked up from his work to Mike. "Yeah?"

"I think we should start making our leave today from this shelter and actually trying to go and find the crew. What do you think?"

"Yeah, I think that's a good idea."

Mike's eyes shifted from Will's face to the paper below Will. "What's that you're drawing?"

"Oh... it's nothing."

Mike took the paper from the floor, brought it up to his face, and inspected it. It was his own face, carved in colors of red, orange, yellow, and brown. He appeared to be grinning in the image.

"Me?" Mike said, raising his eyebrows and smiling down at Will.

Will shyly nodded his head up and down.

Mike kneeled down and ruffled Will's hair playfully, as Will giggled.

Mike turned his head back to see Lucy smiling at the boys.

"My, you two are cute."

Mike stood up awkwardly and dusted himself off, not really knowing what to say. Lucy chuckled to herself, going back to her newspaper, taking the hint. Mike felt shy being perceived this way, even though he already had his heart set on Will.

Mike and Will went and sat at a wooden table.

"What time do you think we should leave by?" Mike asked, clasping his hands together and leaning in towards Will.

"Maybe I should say around 6 PM. That way, we'll have enough time to pack up our stuff, get rations, and still have a bit of daylight left before we hit the road."

"That sounds good."

Mike hadn't had many things to pack, but once he was finished, he packed it away into the faded navy blue backpack that he and Will shared. Will packed up all his things, too. They didn't expect to be out for too long, so they made sure to bring along a few snacks, nothing too heavy. Will felt a little bit nervous about it all; who knows where they could end up next? Or what could happen? Or how El and the crew take their new relationship? Little did Will know, Mike was feeling the exact same way. Despite his tough shell of a demeanor, Mike was just as worrisome as Will, questioning all the possibilities of what could happen. The only thing that Will was positive about was that no matter what, Mike wouldn't leave his side.

5:38 PM, Will glanced at the clock on the wall.

"Hey, William and Lucy." Mike spoke, throwing the backpack over his one right shoulder.

"Hm?" William spoke.

"Me and Will were thinking of heading out, possibly for good. There are things we have to do, and we really wish you all the best."

"Aw, bummer." Lucy said. "I was really getting used to having you kids around here. But it's okay! I understand you can't stick around here forever."

"Yeah, it's been nice, havin' y'all 'round." William said.

"You boys know that me and William will always be here, any time you might need to come back, we'll be here, with open arms." Lucy said.

Mike's heart warmed at Lucy's thoughtful words. "Thank you. I appreciate it so much that you both let us stay here."

"Yeah, thank you from me as well, you're very kind-hearted, you and William." Will spoke.

"I also appreciated the light-hearted presence of you boys here, as long as you've stayed. Now go on! Go do great things! I'll be here, keeping you in mind, cheering you on."

With that, and sweet smiles exchanged, the boys slipped out of the bunker they had been residing in the meantime, heading up the stairs, preparing for whatever could happen next.
