The station was unusually dark that night as Minho rushed inside, huffing and puffing big breaths of air while he switched on the lights to his office.
The whiteboard stared at him menacingly, making him gulp, hesitantly approach and halt once his fingers wrapped around the fabric covering it.
His mind was telling him something he didn't want to believe. But at the end of the day, he's just another insignificant worker in a big system and he's bound to fullfil his duties.
With a shaky exhale, he pulled and allowed for the cloth to reveal what it was hiding. His eyes immediately flew to the Siren's silhouette, noticing the striking familiarity. Finally, he noticed the dresses and how they looked identical to some he's already seen Jia wear, the same hair, the same posture, the same person.
His legs couldn't hold his body anymore and he collapsed on his chair, staring at the whiteboard as it hovered above him, threatening him like a predator did with its prey. Minho's heart was pounding with a thousand miles per hour, he felt like he was short of breath.
How could she?
How could Jia, who always greeted him with a sweet smile be the same person who killed multiple men in a single night?
He shuddered, thinking about the many peoplw she's murdered before their little meetups and about the many victims she would murder even after he dropped her off.
Why would she do that?
Why?
The male staggered, having to support himself against the wall as he wobbled his way back out and to his car, making the tires roll as he pulled out of the driveway, one destiny in mind.
Rain hammered down on his windshield and blinding lightning crackled as he exited the car, watching the oh so familiar apartment complex with stern eyes. Minho rushed inside, completely soaked from the downpour, and headed straight to the elevator.
Jia had told him her floor and door number a long time ago, it wasn't that hard for him to navigate through the building.
His footsteps turned slower and stealthier the closer he got, eventually completely turning soundless. For a second, the policeman in him considered pulling out his gun, but Minho decided to refrain.
Surprisingly, her door was locked and he pushed it open soundlessly, the way he was taught to. Shuffling sounds and rapid breaths echoed through the walls of the dark apartment. Briefly, it would flash up in bright blue when another lightning bolt struck, the thunder swallowed up the sound of the wooden floor when it creaked.
Minho rounded the corner and carefully peeked around, seeing her.
Jia was a complete mess, he dress torn, hair wild as she crouched on the floor, stuffing clother, shoes, gadgets and other stuff that was scattered around the room into a suitcase. Her chest was heaving up and down rather harshly and when she flinched, looking to the side terrified when another thunder screamed, he saw nothing of the Jia he knew in her eyes.
He finally stepped out of his hiding place, blocking the doorframe.
"Han Jia."
She froze, back straightening.
"Or should I say...Siren?"
His words came out as one hateful mock.
"I'm inspector Lee Minho from the Northern Seoul Police Department and I've come to arrest you for multiple crimes."All she did was stand up and turn around slowly.
Minho gulped at her dilated pupils, she looked like she had gone crying completely feral, her hands turning into shaky fists.
Jia bared and clenched her teeth.
