Chapter Seven
| The Worst Type of Contest |"Nicolas, put the spellbook away."
"Look, I just really think you should give it a shot."
"I don't fancy being hunted by the Fallen Angel."
"So, this Fallen Angel is really scary?" Crystal glances at Envy who watched the three boys and their constant bickering with a grin. Her sole entertainment in a coffee shop surrounded by revolting human beings.
Having been asked by Crystal to make herself seen in reality, Envy had almost declined before Charles reinforced the plead. A look she couldn't deny, leading her forcefully being trapped in the dinner crowds as groups of friends and families met up for a nice meal before the night came to a close.
With peppermint tea not on offer, Envy decided to select a chocolate milkshake as for some reason, chocolate was an incredibly popular taste. She definitely could see the appeal.
"She's nice, when you're not stealing for her," Charles chimed in, a sharp glare falling over Nicolas who merely maintained his embarrassed grin. "She's helped us out a few times, doubt she'll be willing now though."
"We have her spell book. There's guaranteed answers in it," Nicolas pleaded desperately, shaking the invisible to humans book above his head. He was promptly ignored by the detectives who returned to seeking an answer to their current debacle.
A witch complicated things. The dangers of the case shot up tremendously since the discovery.
"We need more details about the witch before going into her house. Can Maeve's spell book supply that?" Edwin remarked, watch Nicolas roll his eyes. With an exasperated sigh the boy through the large book into a nearby mirror, watching it vanish into the reflective surface and land safely back in Edwin and Charles's office. The older ghost boy smiled. "Thank you." His speech was dry and sarcastic, a forceful expression of gratitude.
"We just left said house without even looking for Becky," Crystal spoke up, catching Edwin's irritated glare.
"It isn't as if we can just sneak in. She'll be able to see us. Anyone that has been near death or the supernatural can see ghosts," Edwin briefly explained.
Charles supported his friend's explanation with the simple addition of; "If she can see us, she can hurt us. At least give it a solid throw." He nodded to Envy whose head lifted at the sudden inclusion. "And bringing Emmy near a witch is a bad idea for everyone. They sure like their demons."
