17 The disco ball

Aizawa POV

One day, one damn day, before the entrance exam, I was sent on a mission with many other heroes. The police were notified because a person called them that a criminal gang that started with N or so is conducting illegal experiments.

At first I thought it was a normal mission. However, I soon learned that Karma had gone there and the members of the gang seta trap. However, Karma the moron just kept running around there to save other people, not him. If only some of my students could be a bit more heroic like him.

Now it was about stopping an illegal gang and saving a vigilante from himself.

Me and Midnight had to enter the place through the door. Other heroes looked for entrances through other places. The place looked like something out of a horror movie. I would never have entered this place voluntarily. All the doors were locked. Me and Midnight took turns opening the doors. Finally one opened in the middle was a large cage that was open, but around the cage were dismembered robots.

I listened in my headset with which I was still communicating with Tsukauchi.

Tsukauchi: What's the situation?

Me: Clear so far

Tsukauchi: So far?

Me: Looks like Karma was faster than us.

Tsukauchi: any injured?

Me: there are pieces of robot everywhere

Power Loader: that's terrible are the robots still alive or were they all murdered cold blooded.

Me: Sigh

Me and Midnight left the room and tried the other rooms, but none of the doors opened. These doors will have to be opened later. But then one door pops open. When midnight hears the sound, she jumps back, the door opens and we see nothing going on. Blackness is there, has Karma gone in?

Me: Midnight, go in first and use your quirk, if the hallway is really as narrow as I fear, all the people in there should fall asleep.

Midnight: do you think someone is lurking in there with a gun just waiting to stab and kill.

Me: that or worse

After Midnight uses her quirk, we don't hear any bodies falling to the ground. So either there's no one there or they're wearing gas masks.

We both go into the dark room. I can see relatively well in the dark but there is no sunlight from outside shining in here. A few steps after we go inside with Midnight walking ahead. She stumbles and falls to the floor.

Midnight: there's a body on the floor

I immediately check for a pulse

Midnight: I didn't know you were so dirty to touch an unconscious person like that.

I look at her.

Me: when we're done with the mission, remind me to throw you out the window.

Midnight: it was just a joke

Me: Not funny

We both keep walking Eventually we find another unconscious man, and as I look at his pulse, I realize he is holding a gun. The man is unconscious. Still, the thought that he could have used that gun to shoot Karma is terrifying.

Does the other man have a gun too? I didn't pay attention to that. I continue down the hallway to a large, round room with what looks like a spiky disco ball hanging from the ceiling.

Midnight: Ohh~ Karma you're at a party why wasn't I invited?

Now I just realize that there's Karma there, fighting a few members of the gang.

Unlike Karma, everyone has a gun in their hands that they're trying to shoot with. I don't even noticed Karma. From each person he who knocks the gun away takes a hit from each person and then fights back. I've heard about Karma's skills so it's very strange that he takes so many hits and each person only manages to take one hit before Karma defeats him with ease. So why does he do that? He has to dodge the shots and take a punch at the same time and then punch back and at each person in turn. Is there a specific reason?

Karma: your so-called disco ball is a high explosive bomb. So unless you want to get blown into thousands of little pieces and then have those pieces fly around, you and Eraserhead better get out of here.

Me: we're not leaving this room without you It's the job of heroes with a hero license to protect others.

Karma: protect me so you can then take me to jail, huh?

I see that Midnight uses her quirk and hold my breath and get out of where the mist that forms around Midnight is. When I do that, I see a woman aiming at the cloud with a gun and then shooting. I can't hear anything. Falling body or scream that was luck. But then I see how she wants to shoot again. A second shot. I see that the shot did not fly into the haze cloud, but hit Karma. He moved the weapon that was aimed at the haze cloud away towards his shoulder.

Thank you for saving Midnight, but he really has to target the weapon at himself. However, I understand it on the other hand. There was no where he could move the gun, there were a bunch of barrels and I don't know what's in this substance, whether it's toxic explosive or whatever.

Karma: only 10 more minutes, then the whole place will be blown up, tell your friend that. I don't want innocent heroes here to die
