Alastor's POV

"Everyone liked you. So polite and such a gentleman to the ladies."

"I was just being civil."

"Lilith's up here." My ear twitches. Lilith shouldn't be up here. Lilith should be dead. "If Lilith went to Hell, she would have too much power and ruin your relationship with my son. So I kept her up here where she has no power now. You're welcome."

"Why?"

"Because I've grown to like you. Not much of the murderous and violent part of you. I don't like that, although you had good intentions when you were alive and doing it. But you're different from the rest of the souls I've encountered. We get along quite well, especially at the parties you were forced to attend. You were such a lovely dancer if I say so myself. You're the only person I'd allow to insult me a few times before I remind them who's in charge"

Lucifer's POV

I'm pacing back and forth. Charlie watches me try to keep myself calm. Vaggie holds Charlie's hands. Velvette sits on a chair and scrolls through her phone, occasionally taking selfies. Vox drank coffee. He looks calm but I don't know. He kind of seems on edge. Angel and Husker sat together, watching everything unfold. I hold my arms close to my chest. My hair has become messy from me playing with it.

"Dad, Al can take care of himself. He'll be fine," Charlie says softly.

"I know. I know. But my Father is powerful and you know how Alastor is. My Father could kill him without a second thought if he wanted. If Father wanted Alastor, it can't be good. Right?"

"Why would He want to see Alastor in the first place?" Charlie asks.

"Could do something with the marriage," Vaggie says. "Since Lucifer is one of the sons of God."

"Vox might know something. You two used to date like a decade ago," Angel says.

"I dated him before he went away for 7 years. He also barely told me shit. The most he ever opened up was about his father," Vox says. "Mysterious shitbag."

"That story is the worst," Luci says quietly. "A lot of his stories in his past life were happy, but that one. Terrible." I sit on the floor against the couch. I hold my legs close to me. "All I know is that he hated Heaven. Too bright and too much innocent joy. Heh. Hated going to the parties or dinners the higher ups had every month or year or something. Hated that everyone likes him. Hated Lilith in general and whatever Lilith forced him to participate in." I chuckle dryly. "He wasn't even allowed to see his mother..."

A gold light shines over me. I mumble a "fuck" and wipe my eyes. I disappear into the light and into Father's office. I fall onto the floor, hard.

"Ow fuck." I quickly get up, rubbing my head. I know I'm his least favorite, but jeez.

"Hello son," Father says.

"Oh uh, hello. Father."

"How's it been, Lucifer?" I sit down next to Alastor, our legs crossing over each other. Drinks appear in front of them. Alastor takes one out of politeness and sips it. I eye him.

"Uhh. Good?"

"Where's our son?" Alastor asks. Straight to the point. He better not fuck something up. Father calls in Michael.

"He should be here in roughly a minute or two."

"You gave our son to Michael? He's the last person I trust to take care of him!" Alastor shouts. I frog blink at Al. I'm just going to stay quiet.
