2 months had passed, Frank and Gerard had been spending their entire summer break together. Going on small dates, enjoying nature, spending the night with each other. Even though summers are sunny and hot, these last few weeks of summer break have been cloudy and rainy. Giving Gerard and Frank more time to be inside.

"I think it's going to rain again today." Frank looked over to Gerard, smiling at him.

"I think so, it's been cloudy all day, but it's nice so I'm not complaining" Gerard spoke, looking at Frank.

They were sitting on the loft in Frank's room, looking out the window.

"I like the rain. Makes the grass smell good" Frank smiled.

"You smell the grass?" Gerard tilted his head.

"Noo, I mean, when you walk outside, it smells nice, like coming from the ground!" Frank laughed a bit.

"Ohh, makes sense" Gerard nodded.

They continued to watch the storm clouds move, seeing them turn darker by the minute.

Minutes passed and it started to rain, droplets hitting the window, a satisfying sound flowing into the room.

"Do you want to go outside?" Gerard asked.

"In the rain?"

"Yes so you can smell the grass" Gerard laughed a bit, smiling at Frank.

Frank nodded, hopping off the loft, Gerard doing the same.

"Let's go smell the grass." Frank smiled, grabbing Gerard's hand, running out of the room, down the stairs, to the backyard.

The rain poured down onto their heads, drenching them from head to toe.

Frank continued to hold Gerard's hand, grabbing his other, holding it in his, spinning Gerard around in the backyard before pulling him in for a hug.

"I love you.." Frank said. It was the second time hes said that, but Gerard knew it was sincere by this point.

Gerard hugged him back, swaying a bit, as if they were slow dancing.

"I love you more.."

They let the rain pour down on them, as they slowly danced in the rain. It was quiet, the only sound was the rain and Frank humming quietly as they danced.

There was slight thunder in the distance, there was a storm coming. But it didn't bother them. They wanted to stay in this embrace forever. Feeling the rain drench them.

They stayed out in the rain until lighting struck around them, they ran back inside, going to the bathroom to get towels.

"I told you the grass smelt nice, was I right?" Frank looked at Gerard with a loving look.

Gerard nodded with a soft smile, drying off his hair.

After they finished drying off, they stepped out of the bathroom, Frank's parents sitting at the dining room table, his father looking at the boys with a serious look, his mother on the other hand looked apologetic.

"Come sit please." Frank's father spoke, Gerard and Frank walking to the table, taking a seat.

Frank's father glared at him, he was angry.

"Son. Explain to me what this is." His father reached into his pockets, pulling out a note, it was crumbled.

"We.. we found it in your backpack." Frank's mom spoke, her head down.

Frank grabbed the note, reading it.

"Dear Gerard,
From the day I met you, I knew there was something there. But I never said anything to you, not because I didn't want to, just because I was scared. The way you kissed me, and held my hands, just made me feel so special. I never felt this way. This note may not get to you. Because I most likely won't give it to you. But I wanted to ask you a question, and if you find this note, come see me in study hall.
Love, Frank"

Frank looked down at the note and back to his father.

"So? Explain this. Right now." His father spoke sternly.

Frank looked over to Gerard then at his mother.

"Dad, I was going to tell you."

"Were you? Were you really?" His dad slammed his hands on the table, causing Frank to flinch.

"I..I was. I swear!" Frank teared up.

"You know better than this. I don't even know if I should even call you my son." His dad shook his head, disappointed.

"Don't say that.." Frank looked at his father, small tears rolling down his cheeks.

"I can say whatever I want. I'm an adult, you're a child."  His father responded.

"I am not a child."

"Well you're acting like one." His father reached over, grabbing the note from Frank's hand, ripping it to shreds.

His father then looked over to Gerard, an angry look on his face.

"You did this to Frank. He was never like this. But then he met you.. and since then. He's changed, and I will NOT stand for it. Get. Out. Of. My. House. Right now." His father spoke to Gerard.

Gerard's face tightened up. He stood up out of his seat, the chair falling behind him.

"You will not speak to him like that." Gerard spoke, his fists clenched.

"Or what? Are you gonna hit me? Little boy."

Frank looked over to Gerard, shaking his head, telling him to stop. Gerard looked down to Frank, kind of ignoring his silent request.

Frank's father stood up, a grin on his face.

"You aren't going to do anything. You're just a teen. I'm an adult. I know more than you do." His father spoke, walking over to Gerard, putting his hands on his shoulders.

"Don't take this any further than it has to go."

Gerard pushed Frank's father off of him, causing him to go backwards.

"Don't fucking touch me."

"Or what?"

Frank's father was testing Gerard. He could feel it. He walked over to him, punching him right in the nose, hearing a crack as he did so. Blood started to pour out of his nose. Frank's father fell onto the ground, hitting his head on the kitchen island behind him.

Gerard walked back over to the table, grabbing Frank's hand, pulling him out of his seat.

Frank's mom rushed out of her seat, over to her husband, shaking him.

"We are leaving." Gerard said sternly. His fists covered in blood.

He opened the front door, slamming it behind him and Frank.

They walked down the long driveway, and down the streets, it was still raining, but not as bad as before.

They walked down the streets, holding hands.

"Where are we going?" Frank looked over to Gerard.

"My house. You're not going back there."

"But what about my father."

"I've already dealt with him."

Frank stopped in his tracks, causing Gerard to stop as well.

"What?" Gerard looked to Frank, confused.

Frank started to tear up, wrapping his arms around Gerard's neck, hugging him.

"I'm sorry.."

"For what?"

"For getting you into this, I'm sorry my father spoke to you like that. He's never like that. I don't know what I did." Frank spoke. Gerard wrapping his arms around Frank, pulling him closer.

They stood on the side of the street, hugging, soft raindrops falling on them.

Gerard released from the hug, moving his hands to Frank's cheeks, looking at him.

"You don't need to apologize for other people's actions.. It's not your fault." Gerard spoke softly before leaning in to kiss Frank.

It was a soft and gentle kiss. They both needed it. The rain continued to fall as they kissed.

Storm clouds all around them, the rain pouring down, but all they cared about was each other and this gentle love.
