Malnutrition occurs when the body doesn't get enough nutrients. Causes include a poor diet, digestive conditions, or another disease.

Symptoms are fatigue, dizziness, and weight loss. Untreated malnutrition can cause physical or mental disability. Other symptoms of malnutrition include:
reduced appetite.
lack of interest in food and drink.
feeling tired all the time.
feeling weaker.
getting ill often and taking a long time to recover.
wounds taking a long time to heal.
poor concentration.
feeling cold most of the time
weight and muscle loss
a weakened immune system
falls a lot
and  lastly hair loss.

How do malnourished people look?
People with protein-energy undernutrition are often visibly emaciated.

Research: Undernutrition, may look like: Low body weight, prominent bones, depleted fat and muscle. Thin arms and legs with edema (swelling with fluid) in your belly and face.

I will admit she does look like she was suffering from it then but at that time she called what she was going through an eating disorder.

It does appear that what is happening is in fact malnutrition but I don't know for sure but I don't think this one is fake.  It would explain a lot though.

But here's the scariest part when doing more research: How long can a malnourished person live?
Researchers believe that a person can live for up to three weeks without food as long as they have water to drink.

How long does it take to recover from malnutrition in adults?

The median recovery duration was 5 months (95% confidence interval [CI] = 4–5 months), and the nutritional recovery rate was 64.64% (95% CI = 60.2–68.9)

It can lead to serious health issues, including stunted growth, eye problems, diabetes, and heart disease. Malnutrition affects billions of people worldwide.

How to fix malnutrition?
Dietary changes and supplements
having a healthier, more balanced diet.
eating "fortified" foods that contain extra nutrients.
snacking between meals.
having drinks that contain lots of calories.
getting supermarket deliveries at home.
