I first met him at the bus stop.

I was smoking a cigarette and he asked if he could have one. I was reluctant at first. A pack of them wasn't cheap, but nonetheless, I gave him one.

"Do you need a light?" I asked him

"Yeah."

I handed him mine. He hardly looked at me as I handed him my things. He had his hood up and I could only see part of his face. I couldn't even figure his age. He lit the cigarette and took a long drag.

"Thanks." He returned my lighter and cigarettes.

When the bus arrived, he stood up. I noticed he was wearing nice slacks and shoes. With a hoodie on, it was an odd ensemble. I followed him.

There were plenty of seats available. I took one near the back, next to a window. From the corner of my eye, I watched him take a seat near the front. He kept his hood on.

How mysterious.

I laughed at myself, he wasn't mysterious. He was weird.

He looked at me.

I stayed silent for the rest of the trip.
