I stuffed one piece of gum in my mouth.
Followed by another.
And just one more after that.
And right when I was about to put in a fourth, he commented, "Why are you chewing so much gum for?"
I exhaled a minty breath. "I'm trying to quit smoking and my mouth needs to do something."
His green eyes widened. "You're trying to quit? I thought you were just not smoking in front of me."
I shrugged. "Well, I've just been trying to stop in general."
"Alright," he smiled slightly, "It's not because of me, right?"
I scoffed. "Of course not. Get over yourself."
His smile widened. "Sure."
