"Really?" I said cutely, cocking my head to the side slightly.
I could practically see his chest swell with ego. Dain, a Slytherin fourth year boy, was telling me how he had "braved the Hippogryph" in care of magical creatures today.
"No one else would go near it, but I stepped up to that beast, and even touched it!" he proudly stated.
I fake gasped. "That must have been so scary!" I was sitting with him in the Slytherin common room. Trying to sit in that flirty position in this chair was torture but it was all worth it for what I saw next.
Out of the corner of my eye I could see Draco leaned on the couch. Well, I couldn't really call it lounging. more like tensing. His fists were clenched at his sides and I could see the hot vein in his neck that I wanted to kiss bulging as he pretend to listen to something Mattheo was saying.
I listened to what Dain had to say for another few minutes, spacing out a little bit before I heard Blaise calling me. "Sky! Come over here!"
"I'm so sorry, I have to go," I said standing up.
"Wait," the boy caught me by the arm. "Would you wanna meet up tomorrow?"
I nodded, not sure how to politely refuse his request. "I'll definitely think about it."
I walked over to the circle of a couch and a couple of comfy arm chairs by the fire where my friend group was sitting.
"Having fun?" Mia giggled as I sat in the chair next to her.
"I was just talking to someone?" I said.
"Mhm, I know flirting with a fourth year when I see it, "
"The real question is why with him?" Blaise added, looking over toward where one of Dains friends had now joined him and was now pointing over to me as the friend got an impressed look. "You are way out of his league."
"Yeah," Mattheo agrees looking over as well. "Anyway, we were making plans for this weekend, any ideas?"
"I don't know," I said.
"OOH! We could go to Hogsmeade, this is the first weekend!" Mia suggests and eveyones faces light up.
"Wait, Sky are you even allowed to go to Hogsmeade?" Mattheo asked.
"Hm?"
"I just mean because even though you are taking third year classes you are still technically a second year,"
"Oh, yeah I'm allowed to go, I got the permission form, but my Uncle didn't sign it."
Everyone groaned. "I'm sorry" I said looking down.
"Its not your fault," Mia comforted, but I still felt bad.
"You guys should go without me,"
"We're not going to go without you don't be ridiculous," I was surprised to see Draco speaking up. I was even more surprised to hear that after intentionally trying to make him jealous for the past few weeks. Not like he hadn't been doing the same. He was flirting with everyone, and all the girls were eating it up. He always walked around with Pansy draped on his arm as well, which made me furious and I knew he knew it too. thats why he was doing it.
I looked him dead in the eyes, which was the first time we had made eye contact in awhile. They were filled with frustration, jealousy, stubbornness and...lust? I must be him wrong. I knew my eyes were switching between silver (embarrassment) and lavender (affection) but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't make them stop.
"Seriously, you guys should go and have fun. Don't worry about me,"
"We are not going without you." Draco repeated.
