Riley gets Framed (pt.6)

"I'm not sure if I trust you, Dakota.." says Val with her arms crossed. "Look, I know I look like some bully.. but you gotta believe me! You wouldn't believe what I just found.." Dakota said opening up Riley's jansport backpack. She pulled out a glittery blue sketchbook and handed it to her. Val opened up the sketchbook and immediately saw an Anime drawing of her and Riley covered in hearts. She wrote "Val I love you, you're my other half. I want to be with you forever, but you'll never see me the way I see you.." Val blushed red. "O-oh.. This isn't bad though..! Although I'm surprised she would write this about me." she said. Dakota scoffed, " That's just the first part.." She then pulled out lingerie from the backpack "Look, isn't this yours?? It's your size!" Dakota said while laughing. Val had a shocked expression on her face, "Yo... what the hell..!? " she said too shocked to continue to speak. She grabbed the lingerie from Dakota, "This isn't right... I knew Riley liked me but I didn't think she would go this far.." she said concerned. "Confront her then! don't worry Val, I won't let her get away with this!" said Dakota smiling now. Val nodded "Thanks for finding out about this.. I just want to hear her side too.." said Val looking embarrassed.

Suddenly they heard the door creak open and Riley came inside. "U-uhh Hey Val and Dakota.." she said shyly. "Val.. why did you leave? The movie wasn't over.." she said sounding a bit hurt, but then Riley met the gaze of Valentina and realized something was up. Valentina's eyes looked very hardened and she looked uncomfortable around her for the first time. "Riley..." said Val as she held up the sketchbook and underwear "Why did Dakota find this in your backpack??" she said concerned like. Riley immediately turned red and started to stammer, her anxiety took over and she was unable to speak from the shock, but after a couple of minutes she exclaimed "T-that's not mine!.. well the sketchbook is.. but that's not mine!" she said blushing and freaking out. Val looked down for a while, then she made up her mind. "You know Riley, if you did steal from me I'd be pretty disappointed... " Riley saw a tear roll down Val's face. "My parents kicked me out and I'm struggling.. and yet it seems like you tried to steal from me.." she looked at Riley and studied her face. "N-no! Val... I had no idea.. but I would never.. but the sketchbook.. that's mine.. how did you find it anyways?" she said confused. Dakota spoke up finally and said "Oh. I caught you.. anyway just leave us alone. Don't do anything like this again or I'll call the cops." she said with a smirk. Riley flushed red and ran back into one of the bedrooms and slammed the door. She was unbelievably frustrated, her anxiety increasing and she could hear her heartbeat getting faster. She tried to calm down, and eventually she did but she was just crying... until she fell asleep.

Meanwhile, Valentina and Dakota were up late talking. Dakota had convinced her to sit on the balcony together. "You know.. Valentina.. I think I have your solution." Dakota said with a hand on her lips. "Just take me out to the Halloween dance.. if Riley thinks we're together.. she'll leave you alone for sure," she said with a fake smile. Valentina looked hesitant, looking at the friendship bracelet she was wearing that Riley made her. After a couple of minutes, her expression changed and she seemed quite sad, unlike her usual easy-going self. "Okay.. I don't want to hurt her though.. " she said twirling her hair. Dakota put her arm around Val "Don't worry.. you're just letting her down easy, now let's go to bed" Dakota said while walking with Val to their bedrooms.

All of a sudden, Riley woke up from her sleep. Her phone was buzzing and playing her favorite ringtone, so she jumped up to look at the notification. It was a message from Val, a long message. Val was apologizing to Riley, saying that she was sorry because she believed her and that she would never steal from her, especially something like her lingerie, she then said she still cares for Riley, but needs time away from her to process what she saw in her sketchbook because it was like a confession and she doesn't know how to react to Riley's feelings. At the end of the message, she said "I want to talk to you soon though.. I just need time.. but know I'm forever yours... Riley... " Riley blushed when reading this. She was upset because she was clearly set up by Dakota, that's why she had her come to this sleepover! She knew what she had to do now. since Val seemed uncertain about her.. she needed to make her jealous.. but how? Her door opened and a familiar face came inside. "Hello Riley.. mind if I sleep here? I just had a nightmare.." it was another girl on the hockey team. Suddenly Riley realized what she should do, if she found a girlfriend, maybe Valentina would realize how great she was, and regret believing Dakota's Lies. Riley smiled and nodded "Come on in!" and helped the girl with her stuff.
