Everyone had visited Adria (by that I mean just Ember and Ven), though Adria didn't talk anything with anyone as usual, she was tired. Now, it was Emerald's turn but to her dismay, Adria was asleep.
"What do you mean it's not possible!?" Emerald said through gritted teeth and hung up biting back the fury coursing through her veins and creeping up to her neck. She was never the type to get angry for such a tiny disagreement but it was a situation where she had to choose between spending time with her niece who had little to no interest in doing anything with her or scoring a billion dollars worth of deals. The decision was indeed easy, but not for her.
She sat beside Adria who was in a much needed slumber. Watching the peaceful expression on the usually frowned faced Adria made all the nostalgia come back. All the time Adria had showed her affection and loved her as a aunt. But the memories of Adria being 'happy' was before Grace died. Emerald didn't know what she did wrong or if she did something wrong.
But she didn't have an idea of what her niece had done which made their relationship like this. Which made, Adria, herself like this.
No one knew.Emerald shook out of her reverie when she saw a hint of a smile tugging Adria's lips.
'What is she dreaming about which got her SMILING!!?' Emerald thought to herself.
___________
A fit of pleasant laughter filled the room. Adria was dining with her family which most certainly included Ven but not her father. Adria's lips were also stretched out to a full blown smile, both for the tiny tingles of Ven's hands on her thighs and hearing her mother's blissful laugh. Her smile remained in its place as elongated as it could be while her heart filled with a foreign feeling called 'Contentment'. It was weird but not at all painful as the other emotions which were buried deep inside that pit of a heart all these years.
Grace went inside the kitchen to bring the desserts after the laughter eventually faded but the aura was still playful and comforting. Ven turned to Adria and gave that one special smile with a glint on his eyes signifying the administration for something priceless to him. That one gesture miraculously made Adria's shielded heart melt for a split second. Ven's one hand cupped her face brushing the tiny crumbs of the dinner and staying there radiating warmth on her already heated cheeks. She didn't shake off his hand, no, rather she leaned her head on it and cherished the sensation. He took his hand off of her cheeks after what felt like an eternity to both of them wrapped it around legs and waist carrying her in bridal style. Though she was shocked, she didn't do anything but wrapping her own hand around his neck.
"What are you doing? Mom was gonna bring dessert!" She asked with a mocking crescent smile.
"I don't need no dessert when I have you!" He said returning the mischievous smile but his moon lit eyes screamed sincerity.
Adria threw her head in a small chuckle which was enough to bless his ears and said, "You and I both know that I ain't no comparison to sweets!"
"Yaaaa......" Ven trailed off as he entered the room while carrying her. He shut the room's door from his leg and placed her down still gripping her waist.
"But your mouth is" He continued pulling her close.
But as he leaned in to kiss her everything went blurry.......
And both, Ven and Adria peeled open their eyelids laying down on their separate bedrooms with adrenaline rushing through their veins.
