You're dead to me.
Every time those words rang out in my head, another crack formed in my heart.
"Costa..." I was on the verge of breaking down when Costa kneeled down in front of me while I sat on the chair. He took my hands in one of his, using the other to tilt my face towards him.
"Listen to me. None of what he said is true, baby. None of it." As Costa spoke in such a soft tone, I was vaguely aware of Rocco leaving the room behind me.
"He called me a traitor." Tears leaked out of my eyes as I thought back over my actions. "Am I traitor? I didn't mean to be. We fell in love, that's not-"
"You're not a traitor, principessa. Don't say that. You have every right to love who you want, regardless of who your family are. You can love your family and me, it doesn't make you a traitor."
"But-"
"No buts." He shook his head, wiping away my tears from my cheeks. "Of all the issues we've faced, the thought of you ever betraying me or your own family has never crossed my mind - and I'm guessing Damian's too. Your brother is just an angry fucker who is going to lose his fucking teeth when I leave this room."
A soft laugh escaped my lips when he spoke those threatening words so softly, still stroking my cheek.
"I love you, Costa. I couldn't deal with this without you."
"I love you too, baby. Come on. Let's go home." He pressed a kiss to my lips, reminding me that we were about to spend our first night in the newly renovated penthouse.
Costa gently helped me to my feet in my heels, his arm wrapped protectively around my shoulders. I kept my head down as we walked through the restaurant, Costa holding me close to his side the entire time.
When we reached the front door, my eyes landed on three tall figures in the foyer of the restaurant. Rocco was exchanging heated words with my brother while Damian attempted to keep them apart.
"Costa?" I nudged my husband's side when he became busy handling the payment for the meal.
The issue with eating in neutral territory was that we had to pay for our food like normal people. Restaurants in Sicilian territory almost always served Costa for free. He owned most of them anyway.
"Hm?" He looked at me, his eyes following my gaze towards the three of them by the door.
"Merda." He sighed. "I'll deal with it. Give me a second." (Shit) He pulled out his wallet, removing his card to tap it on the machine.
"I think they're leaving." I murmured, watching Damian roughly shove Julius out the front door - his own expression now one of anger.
Rocco stormed out a few seconds later and without a thought, I slipped out of Costa's hold, following him.

Romance"Hm. Is he a friend of yours?" "Yes." Costa nodded, reaching his hand up to move a stray piece of hair from my face. "If you ever let another man touch you again, there will be consequences. Do you understand?" He spoke so softly yet so ominously...
