At 4:30 AM, the usual time for Aira’s bottle of milk, she woke up, squirming in her sleep, her tiny legs and arms flailing as she babbled in her own baby language. Jungkook, however, was unable to move an inch. The pain had completely taken over his body, leaving him feeling weak and unable to move his lower body, his legs numb and unresponsive.
As Aira’s giggles filled the room, Jungkook tossed in his sleep, trying to gather the strength to get up. But before he could fully wake, her sweet sounds began to fade into the background, drowned out by the heavy fog of his sleep. His body felt like a heavy weight, anchoring him to the bed, and despite his deep desire to care for his daughter, he found himself helpless against the overwhelming body pain that held him captive.
"Don't wake your mama up. Your mama is tired. Let him sleep more. Appa will make your milk today," Taehyung said softly, bouncing Aira in his arms as they headed towards the kitchen.
Once inside the kitchen, he filled a pot with water and placed it on the stove, turning it on. "You know how to make it, right, honeybun? You're going to help Appa today," he said, waiting for the water to boil.
Aira, sucking her tiny thumb, looked curiously at the pot and then at Taehyung.
"Do you know where Mama kept your milk powder?" Taehyung asked his little daughter, opening each shelf in search of the milk powder. He finally found a row of jars, each varying in color from white to brown.
"Now, show me which one is yours," he said, holding Aira closer to the jars. Aira's eyes lit up, her hands clapping in excitement as she reached for two jars with her tiny hands.
"Ahhhh.. Nooo. Oh god, move... move..." Taehyung turned around quickly at the sound of his mother's alarmed voice. "Move back. Those are glass jars. You'll break them," she said, hurrying over to gently pry the jars from Aira's grip.
"She was helping me," Taehyung protested, but Mrs. Kim was already focused on the stove.
"Ah, aish. Turn off the stove. The water is about to boil over," she said, rushing to turn off the stove, where half of the water had already evaporated due to the high flame.
"I'll make it. Move aside," Mrs. Kim instructed, closing the shelf and moving to another part of the kitchen to retrieve Aira's milk powder.
"Ah, see, it was right here," Taehyung said, pointing at the tin of milk powder to show Aira. Aira reached out with her grabby little hands towards the tin, her eyes wide with anticipation.
"You need to gather everything near the stove first, and only then should you start boiling the water. Look, half of it has already dried up," Mrs. Kim scolded gently, sighing. Taehyung gave her a sheepish, toothy grin in embarrassment.
"This is why I told him to start br..tfeeding. So that we don't need to boil the water. All I need to do is switch his b...bies with you. But your mama doesn't listen to me," Taehyung murmured under his breath, feeling a mix of amusement and chagrin at his mother's efficiency and his own lack of preparation.
"Here," Mrs. Kim said, handing the bottle of milk to Taehyung. He took it gratefully and carried it into the living room, where he settled on the couch.
Carefully, he placed the bottle at Aira's lips, and she eagerly began to suckle. A warm smile spread across Taehyung's face as he rocked her gently, savoring the tender moment.
"Were you that hungry?" he asked softly, brushing her soft fringes away from her face. Aira giggled, her tiny mouth still latched onto the bottle, her eyes twinkling with delight.
"Your appa is the one who's always very hungry. So drink your milk and sleep, my bun," Taehyung said, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Aira's concentration shifted back to the bottle in her hands, her small fingers gripping it tightly as she drank.
