As the family stepped into the warmth of their home, a familiar rumble filled the air, the deep hum of a black SUV pulling into the driveway. Jungkook paused mid-step, his eyes flicking toward the window, already knowing exactly who had arrived before even seeing them.
With a heavy sigh, he rolled his eyes in a gesture Taehyung had come to expect, though it was laced with affection. This had become their routine for the past three years, an endless cycle of surprises that weren’t really surprises anymore.
Jungkook lingered by the window, watching as Jimin hopped out of the car, his arms overflowing with brightly colored toys. A wide yet nervous grin split Jimin’s face, his excitement palpable even from a distance. Of course, it wasn’t just Jimin. Yoongi followed close behind, carrying another load of shopping bags, his expression a mix of amusement and resignation, as if wondering how they’d gotten roped into this yet again. Jungkook sighed, the scene was all too familiar.
"Who is it?" Taehyung’s voice drifted from the living room, where he was gently drying Aira’s damp hair, her soft curls springing to life under his careful touch.
Jungkook smirked, his voice casual as he replied, "Who else? The same ones as always."
With Gukkie still nestled in his arms, Jungkook turned and headed down the hallway to get their son dressed, leaving Taehyung to investigate the commotion outside. Taehyung gently patted Aira’s head before glancing out the window, his lips quirking up in amusement when he saw Jimin and Yoongi making their way toward the house, arms loaded with bags and toys. It was the same, every visit, an extravagant display of affection wrapped in shopping trips and playful spoiling.
He glanced down at Aira, who was now standing on the couch, her small hands pressed against the windowsill as she strained to see the visitors. Her eyes sparkled with anticipation, her lips parted in a wide, eager smile. She turned her head toward Taehyung, her excitement contagious.
“Appa, Mama's mood spoilers are here again!” she said.
Taehyung’s gaze softened, crouching beside her and brushing a stray curl from her forehead. “Don't say like that, bun.” he said, tilting his head and caressing her head gently.
Aira bit her lip, her little brows furrowing as she considered. Then, with a sudden burst of huffing, she rolled her eyes just like how her mama does a few minutes ago, “Whatever you say, Kim Taehyung. I am not that kind like you.”
Taehyung's mouth hung open wondering how she is an exact copycat of Jungkook. “Ah. It was just one drama queen earlier but now I have to deal with two. A big one and a tiny version. I hope my Gukkie doesn't get looped into it.”
With a sigh, he glanced back out the window, watching as Jimin nearly tripped over a stray garden stone, too focused on balancing the precarious pile of toys in his arms. Beside him, Yoongi walked with a slower, more measured pace, shooting Jimin a knowing look, as though silently judging his enthusiasm. Taehyung smiled to himself.
Aira, without giving any attention to the scene which was about to unfold, bounced down from the couch and made her way into the bedroom to get dressed. Taehyung nodded as he went to the door, opening it wide for the guest.
"Hey… Taehyung," Jimin greeted awkwardly, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, his usual energetic demeanor suddenly a little hesitant as if he wasn’t sure how to bridge the silence.
Taehyung smiled softly, sighed by the uncharacteristic awkwardness from Jimin. "Hey, Jimin," he replied, his tone gentle. Before he could say anything more, Yoongi stepped forward, clearing his throat softly.
"Hope you're doing well, Taehyung," Yoongi added, his voice steady but carrying a note of formality, as if sensing the sudden shift in the air.
Taehyung’s eyes softened as he looked between them. Something felt different today, but he didn’t press. Instead, he offered a warm smile and stepped aside, motioning towards the inside of their home. "Yes, I'm doing fine. Please, come in."
