IT WAS A RANDOM SATURDAY in May. It was the day after Hannah and her family arrived in South Korea. When she woke up, her bags and suitcases were placed against a wall in her new room. Thankfully, they already had their beds put into their rooms before they got there. They have many relatives that live in South Korea and offered to do this for them.

After she had made her bed, she walked towards the bathroom. It was clean and small, and everything that you needed was in there. The tiles were a mossy shade of green and everything else was white. As Hannah walked around their new house, exploring, she noticed that the house frequently had that same colour from the tiles in the bathroom.

She liked it. It was a really nice colour. Something about that shade of green, the brown wood and the white paint just screamed something. She didn't know what it was, but it felt nice.

It was about noon when Hannah had gotten half-way through her first bag. Her dad had called her down to the kitchen, where the rest of her family was. They had a small brunch around a wooden table.

Afterwards, Hannah's dad called out to her before she could disappear back into her room again, "Hannah, do you mind poppin' to the shop for a few things? Maybe you can get a bit of practice in, speaking Korean, before you go to school on Monday." He smiled at her.

Hannah nodded, "Sure, what do we need?" Her dad gave her a small list of things that they needed. A last that consisted of milk, bread, cereal etc. etc. Just a few things that they weren't able to bring on the plane.

Hannah's jeans scraped against the conrete as she walked. She didn't exactly know where she was going, but she had to be getting somewhere. It wasn't long until she stopped at a nearby alley where she found a stray cat.

It was grey and white, a kitten. She bent down and slowly approached it. She held her finger out towards it and let the kitten become familiar. "What a cutie..." She mumbled, petting the kitten gently.

However, the sound of footsteps made her look up from the small kitten. When she did, she saw another cat. Well, so she thought.

It was a girl. Probably around the same age as her. But, she resembled a cat. Hannah's eyes widened as she stared, a cat... She looks like a cat...

"You like cats?" The girl asked, a bag slung over her left shoulder. She bent down beside her and reached towards the kitten. The kitten instantly snuggled closer to her hand, purring quietly.

Hannah looked at the girl, who wore a small smile as she pet the cat. "Yeah." It felt a little weird, speaking in Korean. They did sometimes in the house, but it was very rare. I guess she would just have to get used to it now. Everyone speaks it adound here.

"Her name's Suki." She says quietly, continuing to pet the kitten.

"And yours?" Hannah asks. The girl finally looks at her and blinks slowly, "Kang Haerin." They stared at eachother for a few seconds. It only made Hannah's belief even stronger; That this girl was definetely a cat.

The shape of her face, her delicate features, the way she blinked slower than any other would. And her eyes... Were the most dominant cat-like feature. It was quite a captivating sight.

Hannah nods and stands up, "Nice to meet you, Haerin." Following suit, Haerin stands up aswell, bowing slightly. "Your name?" She asks, fixing her bag to sit on her shoulder properly.

"Han- Hayoung. Mo Hayoung." Since she was in Korea, she decided that she would like to go by her Korean name. It would probably take a little time to get used to, but it would be nice to finally put the name to use.

"Nice to meet you, too, Hayoung." Haerin says and waves her hand, walking back towards the alley. Hannah waves back and watches as her figure becomes smaller and smaller as she walks on.

That was a little strange... Hannah went on and continued looking for a shop. She was lost, eventually, but she found one nontheless.

When Hannah arrived home, she was exhausted. It turns out that she had walked thirty minutes away from their house. She was gone for two hours and arrived back home at around four pm.

Throughout the rest of that night, Hannah spent time in her room, unpacking. With an hour, or so, break for dinner, of course. She wanted to make sure that after this weekend, she didn't have to unpack anything else and just do whatever she wanted.

She didn't care much for school. She didn't study much, either, but she was naturally smart and got average grades. Back in Australia, she usually sat by the hallway, right against the wall. She used to just focus on drawing in classes, but she wondered if she could even do that at the moment.

She's still at loss with inspiration. She tried to distract herself today so that she didn't have to worry about creative block. This being said, it's dark out and Hannah places the last of her things on the desk that sits in the corner of her room.

She notices that you can see alot of stars from this town. It felt good. She loved the sky. Especially when it was dark. There wasn't a specific reason for that, but she just preferred it.

Finally, Hannah woke up the next morning– Well, perhaps i should say afternoon. It was quarter past one when she finally got out of her bed. Atleast i slept at all. She believed that once she left Australia, it would be hard to live. But, of course, she was being dramatic. Her new bed was comfier than she'd expected.

Nothing special happened that day. But, Hannah did end up drawing something while watching tv with her sisters. She thought of it as a little strange. Her left hand had a mind of its own and had drawn a kitten. As much as she loved cats, she never usually drew them. She was more of a landscape girl, so it made her think a little bit.

Maybe it was a sign. But what kind of sign? The last time she had seen a cat was... Yesterday. When she met Suki and Haerin. Her own unconcious mind had brought her back to that moment. Which also felt rather strange to Hannah.

The pair didn't interact much, but it felt... Intimate? It felt... Comfortable.

It was like sitting on the beach, late at night, just listening to the waves crash against eachother. Or listening to the birds chirp while sitting on a park bench as you sketch. Or waking up on a sunny saturday morning to the scent of your favourite breakfast.

Hannah shook off those thoughts and looked at her drawing. She wondered if she'd ever meet Suki or Haerin again. Perhaps both. She'd prefer if she could meet them both again. She wondered if Suki was Haerin's cat. But then again, the girl had left without her. But, cats like to wander. All she could do was wonder.

Hannah and Danielle had school tomorrow and it was getting a bit late. Soon enough, the whole house had gone quiet and Hannah lay in her bed. Before falling asleep, she made sure to turn off her fan and lights. Eventually, her eyes and mind and any kind of thoughts were closed off until morning arrived.
