"HEY GUYS." MINJI SAID, waving at Danielle and Hannah. As they waved back, Hannah and Haerin's eyes clicked. Like magnets, almost. Hannah smiled and walked towards her. Her left arm hooked onto Haerin's right, "Hi."
The group of six started walking through the alley, on their way to school. Hannah could tell why Haerin might've thought her friends were annoying. Although she thought differently, she knew it was because they're really loud and like to tease eachother.
They match well with Danielle's personality which is why she's glad that her sister became friends with them and not anyone else who might've hurt her.
She wondered why Haerin might've believed it would be nice to walk with her. She, herself, is also quite the yapper. But, that aside, she enjoys the silence.
Haerin's reasoning was that she just preferred to walk with someone who didn't sound like a dying pig. Her words, not mine.
To Hannah, six weeks passed by in a flash. A blink of an eye and they were gone.
Every school morning, she and her sister would meet up with Minji, Hanni, Hyein and Haerin so they could walk to school. She and them became closer by a ton. Within the six weeks, she learned alot about them.
How Minji and Hanni so obviously had a crush on eachother; All of them liked to sing and dance, as they're all part of the same dance club; Hyein is young, but very talented. She's overwhelmingly sweet, yet mischievious at times.
They were alot of fun, Hannah thought. But as time went by, she couldn't help but notice how happy she became whenever she even looked at Haerin. Why did she feel like nothing could ever make her feel happier? It felt frightening, almost, that someone could influence your emotions so heavily and so quickly.
Happiness was a priority when it came to Haerin. As much as Haerin made her feel happy, did Hannah make Haerin feel happy?
She wondered what she would feel like if the girl ever disappeared from her life. She imagined how much her heart would ache if she could never see her delicate features again. How much she would miss her and her odd habits and unique interests. She promised herself to never let that happen.
All of these things floated through her mind as she sat by an open pond, surrounded by trees. The sun blared through them as it set, creating an odd pattern across her face and sketchbook.
Her pencil created different shades on a kitten's fur. As a small breeze ruffled her hair, she continued to draw her twenty-second cat in her sketchbook. That was all she drew these days. They reminded her of someone that she couldn't stop thinking about and her insticts just told her to draw them. They would sometimes be drawn with oil pastels, which created a different feel to them.
Hannah placed her pencil and sketchbook down next to her and sat back, leaning on her hands. She squinted up at the sun and sighed. There were so many thoughts going through her head, but, at the moment, she didn't have time to ponder.
When she checked her phone, she realised that it was time for her to leave. She picked up her sketchbook and pencil and put it in her bag.
When she arrived at the alley way, Haerin was already waiting for her. "You're early." Hannah said as she locked eyes with her.
The corners of Haerin's lips curled upwards, "So are you."
Hannah smiled at her, "How long have you been waiting?" She asked as they began to walk through the alley.
"Not long." Haerin looked down the alley as she walked. She did notice Hannah's stare, but didn't mention it. She also just told a lie. Just a little white one. She had been waiting there for fifteen minutes because she had nothing better to do.
The pair had dressed casually; Jeans and sweatshirts. They wanted to hang out for a little bit before Haerin went abroad on holiday.
That's right, the summer holidays were approaching and Haerin was leaving South Korea for two weeks. In three days, she would be on a plane to Paris.
"Where is it again?" Hannah asked as they rounded a corner. Haerin pointed towards a bright building that was covered in purple led lights. "Over there."
When they entered, they were bombarded with tons of arcade games; Claw machines, air hockey, basketball, gun games and all sorts. It felt endless.
Their eyes widened as they took it all in. They looked at eachother and smiled, "Jesus... This place is huge." Hannah mentioned as they both started to wander.
"What do you wanna do first?" Haerin asked, her eyes roaming across various games. They started off with a competitive game of air hockey, then a game of mario kart.
After a few hours of constant fun, the pair headed towards the claw machines. Haerin stood by one that had caught her eye. It was small and cute. Kind of like Haerin, Hannah thought. It was definitely something that Haerin would enjoy.
"You like one?" Hannah asked as she approached Haerin and the small claw machine. Haerin hummed in response and nodded her head. As she pointed to one of the plushies inside, Hannah smiled. It was a small frog keychain. "It's cute."
Haerin smiled at her, "Do you like any?" When she asked, Hannah looked through the various keychains. Hannah smiled and pointed at one through the glass, "The bear."
A moment later, Haerin started brushing her fingers against her knuckles. Hannah noticed this a while back, perhaps even when they had first met, that it was a nervous tick. Whenever she got a glance of Haerin as she played with her hands, she wanted to make her feel comfortable.
"You want to get them? It can be our first friendship item." Hannah asked as she smiled, hooking her arm into Haerin's.
Haerin blushed and nodded, "Mhm."
For a good twenty minutes, the duo had passionately tried to win those two keychains. They eventually got them after spending about ₩20,000 on the machine.
Haerin sighed, "Finally." Hannah smiled as she took out her phone. She nudged Haerin to grab her attention, then held her phone up.
"Say Cheese." She took a picture of them both holding their matching keychains and then they decided it was a good idea to head home.
As they walked, the moon was now up in the sky instead of the sun. The stars were visible and bright. Like any other night, it was impossible for Hannah to not stare at them in awe.
She was snapped out of her daze when she nearly tripped over a stone. She yelped and regained her balance. Haerin started laughing at her and she got embarrassed.
The duo arrived at their alley soon after, "Have fun eating baguettes and pan au chocolat's, i guess." Hannah said as she folded her arms.
Haerin smiled at her, "I will." She held out her hand, palm up infront of the other girl. Hannah stared at her hand, confused.
Haerin just shook her hand a bit, not saying a word to explain. Hannah unfolded her arms and held her hand, still clueless.
One thing that she didn't expect her to do was bring her hand closer and kiss it.
