Chapter 1

A loud noise from my alarm clock woke me up on a Monday morning, making me get ready for work. I opened my phone first to greet my guy with a good morning.

After messaging Andrei, I got out of bed. It's still 5:30 AM, so I didn't expect him to reply immediately. I went to the bathroom to pee and wash my face before having breakfast. For breakfast, I decided to eat bread with a fried egg and made my usual coffee.

When I finished eating, I took a shower. And while I was putting on my jeans, one of my staff's name from the café flashed on my phone screen. It was Debbie.

I took my phone and answered the call.

"Yes? Good morning," I greeted her.

"Hello po, ma'am Adelaide! Good morning po!" her voice was energetic.

My sandals made a sound as I walked to get my makeup bag. Umupo muna ako sa bed.

"Is there a problem?" I asked.

"Ah, wala naman po, ma'am. Nandito na po kami ni Chad sa café naglilinis at nagp-prepare na po. Kaya lang po ano..."

I was putting on a light lipstick when my hand stopped for a moment out of curiosity about what she was about to say.

"Kaya lang, what?" I was calm.

"Ma'am, may customer na po kasi sa labas at hindi pa po tayo open. Umo-order po ng thirty pieces of sandwiches at ine-expect po na madedeliver ng 8:30 AM."

I looked at my watch. It is currently 6:45 AM.

"Okay. I'll be there in a few. Please, inform the customer that we accept the order and it will be delivered on time."

"Sige po, ma'am. Thank you po."

"Did you take the location already?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"All right. I'll be there. Bye."

The call ended. Tinapos ko ang paglalagay ng lipstick sa lips ko and then I dashed out of my unit and entered the elevator. My café is located near the condo tower I'm in, so it only took me a few minutes to get there.

When I arrived, no one was outside. I figured the person who ordered sandwiches had already left. Both of my staff greeted me with a smile as I entered. I greeted them back.

The shop is all clean and neat. I started my business just a week ago, so I only have two staff members with me. Despite this, we have managed to attend to our customers' needs with just the three of us.

Since only a few people visit the café and we're not yet attracting many customers, we're able to manage it well.

By the way, the name of my café is 'Ada's Cafe Lounge'.

For two years, I worked as an office girl after graduating with a bachelor's degree in Information Technology. My tasks were all related to computer. Those two years taught me a lot and I enjoyed the job.

But still, I resigned a month ago because I wanted to try something new. I have decided to pursue my dream of starting a business now.

When I was a kid, I've always dreamt of having a café and I truly believe this is a right path for me. Everything feels like the timing is perfect.

I placed my small handbag on the table and started putting on my apron to begin making the sandwiches. The shop is not open yet. Usually, we open it at 8 AM.
