3rd person's POV:
Lucy woke up that morning with a sense of determination. As she swung her legs over the side of the bed, she took a deep breath and went to the kitchen. As she stared at the weight loss pills, she made a decision . She wouldn't take any pills today. This was a big step, she had been relying on them too much and she knew it wasn't healthy. Instead, she resolved to start working on having a healthier relationship with food.
The support from Tim and Angela had been helping her a lot, even though she hadn't told them anything about her struggles. Just knowing they were there for her made a difference.
After an attempt to have a small breakfast, she got dressed and headed to the station. The familiar surroundings provided a sense of comfort. In the changing room, she put on her uniform. Just as she finished, Angela walked in, her smile as bright as ever.
"Morning, Lucy!" Angela greeted her warmly.
"Morning, Angela," Lucy replied, her mood lifting slightly. "Can you believe how well we cracked that case together?"
Angela laughed. "I know, right? We make a pretty good team."
Lucy nodded. "Yeah, we do. It was a tough one, but we got it done."
Angela's eye sparkled with pride. "It's always good to have a win like that. How are you feeling today?"
"Better, actually. I'm trying to take better care of myself." Lucy admitted, a hint of vulnerability in her voice.
Angela gave her a supportive smile. "That's great to hear. Remember, you've got people who care about you. You don't have to do this alone."
"Thanks, Angela. I really appreciate it." she answered.
As roll call time approached, they made their way to the briefing room. Tim was already there, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. He gave Lucy a nod and small smile, which she returned. The sense of normalcy was comforting, a reminder that despite everything, they were still moving forward.
In roll call, Grey announced that Lucy would be riding with Tim again and Angela with West.
"Ready for another day?" Tim asked, glancing over at Lucy with a reassuring smile.
Lucy returned his smile, though it didn't quite reach her eyes, "Always!"
Their shift had been relatively uneventful until they received a call about suspicious activity at a house in a quiet neighborhood. The details were vague, but the urgency in the dispatcher's voice put them on high alert.
"Let's check it out," Tim said as he pulled up to the address. The house was dark, and a silence hung in the air.
Tim and Lucy approached the house cautiously, their hands hovering near their weapons. "I'll take the ground floor," Tim instructed. "You check upstairs."
Lucy nodded, her expression serious. "Got it."
They split up, Tim moving through the living room and kitchen, while Lucy ascended the stairs, her flashlight cutting through the darkness. The second floor was a maze of narrow hallways and closed doors, each one a potential threat.
As she cleared room after room, a sudden noise made her spin around, gun raised. A figure lunged at her from a doorway, and Lucy fired instinctively. The man grunted and fell, but not before managing to get a shot off. Pain exploded in Lucy's side, and she staggered back, clutching her wound.
