3rd person's POV:
A week had passed since Lucy's near-death experience, and she was finally cleared to return to work. Getting out of bed that morning, Lucy hadn't been taking any weight loss pills sinds the incident. She was trying really hard to gain a healthy relationship with food. The support from Tim and Angela had been helping her a lot, even though she hadn't told them anything about what she was going through.
She took a deep breath, feeling the significance of her decision. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to make a change. As she got dressed, she thought about how Tim and Angela had been there for her, offering support even without knowing the full extent of her struggles. Their kindness had made a difference, giving her the strength to face each day.
Once at the station, she changed into her uniform and ran into Angela.
"You ready for your first day back?" Angela said, a small smile playing on her lips.
"Absolutely," Lucy replied, her determination shining through. "I've missed being out there."
Just as Tim and Lucy were about to head to their patrol car, a woman approached them. She was in her mid-thirties, with a striking resemblance to Tim.
"Tim! I've been trying to reach you for days." She said, her tone a mix of frustration and concern.
Tim's face tightened. "Genny, what are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to see my big brother."
"This is a restricted area. How did you get in here?"
"Oh I just told an officer that I was you sister and they let me in."
When Genny turned around to see Lucy, she extended her hand with a warm smile. "Hi, I'm Lucy Chen!"
Genny glanced at her, assuming she was a rookie. "Hi, nice to meet you." As she was turning her head back at Tim, "Is this your new rookie, Tim?"
Before Tim could respond, Lucy explained. "Actually, I'm a detective and not a rookie."
Genny's eyes widened in surprise. "Detective? Wow, I didn't realize..."
Tim nodded. "Yeah, Lucy has come a long way."
Genny turned back to Tim, her expression shifting from surprise to urgent. "You're ignoring my calls and messages, I need to talk to you."
Tim's expression hardened. "I know why you are here and I've made my position very clear."
"We have to talk about it." Genny said
Tim answered, "Look I have to get to work. Maybe we can have dinner tonight."
"So you can cancel the last minute?" Genny replied.
Lucy sensed the tension and intervened. "Genny, how about you join us for a ride- along today? I can sign off on it since I'm a detective. That way you guys can talk more during our shift."
Genny looked relieved. "Thank you, Lucy. I'd appreciate that."
As they settled into the shop, Genny sat in the back while Tim drove. Tim was staring out the window making no eyecontact, clearly uncomfortable with the situation.
"So are we going to talk about dad?" Genny said
"I have nothing to say." Tim
Genny sighed. "I need the sell the house, it's in bad shape. I need your help to fix it up so we can sell it. But you won't even answer my calls."
"Because I don't want anything to do with him" Tim said
Lucy glanced at Tim, than back at Genny. "Why do you need to sell the house now?"
