MANON WOKE TO THE SOUND OF A LARGE BANG THE NEXT MORNING. She shot up in bed and rushed downstairs to see Sam staring at a pot on the floor.
"Oh," he looked up and flushed when he realised not only had he woken Manon, but Gracie, Taylor, Colby and Aurelie too. "Hi."
"What were you trying to do?" Manon asked, running a hand down her face. She looked around the kitchen to see a pancake mix from the store on the bench. "Oh, Sam."
"Yeah...trying to make pancakes," Sam grinned sheepishly.
"Move," Aurelie pushed him past and grabbed the mix, moving it. "Manon, where's the recipe book?"
"Third counter to the left!" Her sister called back, grabbing some ingredients and setting them on the counter. She turned to the others. "You, go sit, all of you. We're going to make pancakes...Wright Norfolk style."
"Ooh, sounds fun," Colby laughed, leaning back on his stool.
Aurelie shot a glare at him.
"Something's happening behind the scenes!" Gracie sung as she walked over to where the others were seated.
"Milk?" Manon asked and Aurelie handed the carton over. And she started mixing.
When Manon started cooking the pancakes, Aurelie grabbed some plates out and slid the made ones onto plates. She collected maple syrup, bacon, butter and Nutella from their places on plates and in the cupboards. Anything for the guests to put on. Finally, she started sliding the plates over in time to when pancakes were ready.
"Eat up!" Manon announced when all that was left were her and Aurelie's - plus a few piklets left over.
"Oh my god!" Sam gasped. "Manon, these are incredible."
"Thank you," Manon smiled. "A family recipe from Maman's side."
"They're like...the best pancakes I've ever tasted!"
"Why thank you."
