||Elliana's P.O.V.||

Sometimes hours can feel like minutes. And sometimes a single second can last a lifetime. As I stood there waiting for the illusion of my late best friend to speak, I couldn't tell you how much time truly passed, but when the seconds continued to tick by, I realized that he was waiting for me to urge him to continue.

"Okay," I breathed out, folding my arms across my chest. "I'm listening."

His grey eyes flickered, resembling two silver pools as they met mine.

"Why are you getting so close to him?" He asked in a voice barely above a whisper.

I blinked rapidly. "What?"

"Edward." He spoke sternly, frowning all the while. "You're getting close to him. Why?"

Inhaling a shaky breath, I allowed myself a moment to fully process his question.

"He's my friend, Ced," I calmly explained. "What's wrong with that?"

His jaw ticked. "Friend? A friend that just so happens to look exactly like me?"

I stared at him in confusion. What was he getting at?

"What does that have to do with anything?" I questioned, arching a brow.

He scoffed, his face twisting into a scowl before he started pacing back and forth. I watched as he made several laps around the room.

He came to a stop directly in front of me, his silver eyes flashing with emotion.

"Everything," he whispered, his voice cracking as though he was choking back a sob.

My breath hitched when I noticed the tears glistening in his eyes, gazing at me with a look of betrayal. Suddenly, my heart felt like it weighed a thousand pounds.

"You were in love with me for six years, Elliana. Six years!" His voice went up an octave. "Does that mean nothing to you now?"

My eyes mirrored his, filling with tears that threatened to spill as I took in his sorrowful features. I felt my heart clench when the first tear slid down his face.

"Of course not," I spoke through gritted teeth, fighting against the wave of tears that threatened to escape me. "How could you even say that?"

He shook his head slowly. "I see the way you look at him. I see the way he looks at you. You're forgetting me. I can feel it."

My mouth fell open. There was no stopping the tears that spilled from my eyes and ran down my face.

"I could never forget you, Cedric. Never." I forced out the words around the lump in my throat.
