||Elliana's P.O.V.||

Cedric stepped towards me and wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me against his side. Despite the current situation, I couldn't help the way my heart responded to the gesture. He was studying my face while Harry appeared to study the graveyard.

"Is this supposed to be part of the task?" Harry asked, glancing at us sheepishly.

Cedric tore his eyes from mine and said, "I dunno."

I didn't like how nervous he sounded.

"Wands out, d'you reckon?" Ced met Harry's anxious gaze.

Harry nodded, pulling out his wand and holding it tightly in his hand. His knuckles were turning white from his grip. Cedric looked down at my empty hands and frowned.

"Where's your wand, Elliana?" He asked, his face pulling down as his frown deepened.

"I lost it forever ago. When we encountered the skrewt," I told him.

Cedric's jaw went slack. So, he wasn't aware that I had been completely defenseless this whole time? I assumed that was why he kept acting as my 'human shield'.

"Don't leave my side," Cedric spoke in a low, stern voice, his eyes glinting silver. "I mean it, Elliana."

A lump formed in my throat before I nodded in understanding. He looked.. terrified which, of course, only fueled my own panic. A shiver traveled down my spine; I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched.

Harry's eyes widened. "Someone's coming."

Cedric stiffened beside me. We squinted in the darkness and could make out a figure in the distance that was drawing nearer, walking steadily toward us between the graves. From the way it was walking and holding its arms, it looked as though it was carrying something. Cedric untangled himself from me and walked forward several paces, craning his neck to get a better glimpse of the figure.

Whoever it was, it was short and wearing a hooded cloak pulled up to obscure his face. After several more paces, I could make out that the thing in his arms looked like a baby.. Or was it merely a bundle of robes?

Cedric and Harry both lowered their wands slightly and cast each other a sideways glance. Cedric shot us a quizzical look before we turned to watch the approaching figure.

It stopped beside a towering marble headstone, only six feet from us. For a second, the three of us and the short hooded figure simply looked at each other.

And then, suddenly, Harry fell to the ground, his wand slipping from his fingers as his hand flew up to his forehead. His features were twisted in pain, grimacing as though it was unbearable. A gasp flew through my lips before I rushed to his side, leaning down to get a better look at him. I looked up at Cedric and then at the hooded figure.
