Her warm hand in mine was the only thing holding me down to earth as I felt a sharp tug behind my naval, followed by what felt like my entire body being compressed. The horrible gut-wrenching feeling was enough to steal my breath, but it was over in a split second (just as she said).

Only when she released her hand from my hold did I realize it was over. My eyes fluttered open, meeting her tranquil emerald orbs as she peered up at me from beneath her lashes.

"We're here." Her soft voice washed over me like a gentle caress.

We were in a deserted alleyway of some sorts, but I could pick up on many different voices in the distance. A thrill of excitement coursed through me when she offered me a brilliant smile that would bring any man to his knees.

"Keep your hood up, okay? This is a Discretion Cloak. As long as you're wearing it, no one will so much as bat an eye at you."

A Discretion Cloak? What? Before I could form a coherent thought, she waved her wand towards me. I felt a rush of warm air before my clothes were instantly dry. I stared at her in awe, watching as she did the same thing to herself.

"Are you ready?" She asked, her eyes glinting with an eagerness that had my stomach in knots.

It was all I could do to nod and squeak out, "Yes."

Her smile grew tenfold, making her green eyes dance in a majestic manner that left me speechless (more so than I already was). God, did I have it bad or what?

To my surprise and delight, she wrapped her hand around mine once again. Her hand felt so small, so warm.. in mine. In that moment, my heart could've soared. It felt so wholly right having our hands entwined. She didn't flinch away at my icy touch or give any indication that she was fazed by the gesture at all— neither good nor bad. She meant it as a casual act. No doubt, in a bid to look less suspicious to onlookers. Nothing more. Nothing less. I convinced myself of that because I couldn't afford to get my hopes up. Not yet.

When she started leading me down the cobblestone path, there was no denying the excited butterflies in my stomach. And when we rounded a corner and found ourselves in the middle of a bustling street, my jaw immediately hit the ground.

Characters of every variety were traipsing along the streets, weaving in and out of rustic shops that looked like they were straight out of a movie set. A middle-aged man in long black robes was working a 'Sweet Cart', handing out candy to two school-aged kids who wasted no time popping the treat in their mouths. I watched in horror as smoke started coming out of their ears and noses and stopped dead in my tracks when they proceeded to open their mouths and breathe fire.

My jaw dropped as I came to a stand-still in the middle of the street, clutching Elliana's hand and causing her to come to a sudden stop as well. The two kids began to laugh maniacally before devouring another treat, starting the process all over again. Elliana noticed my stunned expression and was unable to stifle a giggle at my expense.
