Kenneth Deora

Gianna did not trust these motherfuckers so she put up a condition to Francisca. She wanted both women in front of us during the signing.

The plan was simple. We go, she hides and while I delay signing she'll get them out.

They finally moved me to a chair. This was it. This was a good chance to escape. I was going to escape.

My breath faltered. I hate how they took away my shoes. I thanked my stars that this was a wooden chair.

I crashed against a wall, without entirely breaking the chair. That would be too much noise. But it chipped either way giving me a sharp piece to work with. And it does.

A lot of cuts but my hands were free. I almost cried out at the pain in twisting my wrists but I managed with a quieter sigh. I moved to my feet, cutting the rope.

I was going to save Kenneth's mom. As much as I hated her for leaving when he needed her the most, I was not going to fail him. But first I needed to get out of here.

There was one door and it was locked. I looked around trying to find another way to leave when I saw a loose wood board.

I pried it open revealing a tunnel-like path. I ran into it and after a few minutes of running I realised I was lost. This place was a fucking maze. I kept taking turns trying to find a way out.

We sat down on a table. There was a man instead of Francisca as I had expected. I could see my mom.

She looked so tired, so devastated. I put the paper in front of him so he could see it was legit. "If this isn't legit you'll have to see your mother be shot in the mouth."

I swallow the lump in my throat. Gianna wouldn't let that happen. Right? Half of my mind still stayed on Mariana. Come on baby, where are you? I bounced my leg and wiped the sweat off my jeans.

"Sign it." He kept a fresh piece of paper in front of me.

Beads of sweat formed on my forehead. I started shaking my hand. "Shaky hands you know..."

His frustration grew as did my nervousness. "Where's Mariana? The condition was that we'll see both before signing." His lips turned into a shit eating grin.

"You don't need to see her to sell her. Now sign the fucking paper." He slammed the table.

Pretending to flinch I dropped the pen in my pocket. "Oh no! I lost the pen. How foolish of me." He started looking around to find it.

"You should let me see her for you know.... Quality check." Guilt gnawed at my insides for talking about my wildfire like that.

"Don't worry about it. We checked well."

I looked at him. "Repeat that." I walked behind him as he was still looking for the pen under the table.

"We tested her well... She was so- " I pulled him by the back of his shirt slamming the back of his head into the wooden table again and again till he stopped moving.

Guess I couldn't say I've never killed anyone now. Placing the pen back on the table I picked up both paper ripping both the contracts.

I wanted to own her but not like this. I wanted to own her as much as she owns me. The way she owned my thoughts, my breath, my life.

Gianna crawled out of where she was hiding. "You offended my gun." She said shooting him anyways just for safety

"Tell it I apologised." My mind started running through thoughts of where Mariana could be. "It!?" She gasped.

"Let's find my girl before picking pronouns for your gun? She has to be in here cause there's no way she'd be outside and not contact someone."

I heard something shuffle in the corner. I turned to see my mom waking. "Kenneth?" I went up to her. "How did you end up here, woman?" I asked, untying her and helping her stand up.

"You're okay...." Her eyes dwelled up with tears and it crushed my heart. "I'm okay.. okay now get up let's get you home."

"I'm sorry... Kenneth.. I'm so sorry I left-" I cut her off. I didn't want to have this conversation and I also had no intention of delaying a second in finding my girl.

"It's fine. You did what you had to. I'll have your tickets booked for Spain again." My heart twisted when she didn't even protest the idea. "I'll book it by tonight. Take a cab and go home." I gave her my address and a phone.

"Kenneth-" she tried before I turned back to Gianna. "So where do we find her?" I didn't have the strength to talk to my mother right now.

There was too much guilt. For getting her kidnapped, for failing her again. There was also contrasting resentment for how she left me. It was too much.

Gianna continued "She's in this building but I don't know where. I need a laptop to get a satellite view of this."

"I have one in my car." I said handing her the car keys. "I'm gonna go check around." She nodded before tossing a gun to me. "I have one." I tossed it back. "And still used a table." She sighed.

I'd been trying to get out of this place for way too long. I'd bled too much. I didn't know how much more I could handle.

I usually wouldn't mind death but I had to save Kenneth's mom. I couldn't fail him. I couldn't fail another person. Not like I had failed my dad. Not like I had failed my mom. Not like I failed myself.

Panic starts taking over me as I thought about dying without fixing this. I had never been scared of death but the thought of disappointing him terrified me.

I felt something drop as lights went on and my eyes widened. "Where do you think you're going?"
