⋆ ˚｡⋆୨ Consequence? Dinner Date! ୧⋆ ˚｡⋆

"Who did you come to office today with." Kai was taken aback from the sudden random question, as soon as he stepped inside Taehyun's office.

"W-what? Who did I come with?" Kai asked to make sure he heard it right. Why was Mr.Kang asking him who he came to work with? Was something wrong..?

"Yes you, who else?" Taehyun answered, raising his eyebrows. His jealousy was pretty evident, but Kai was oblivious.

Taehyun was an open book, but Kai was illiterate.

"Um did I do something wrong, Mr.Kang?" Kai asked timidly, not knowing why Taehyun was asking him such a question.
What was he supposed to say in this situation? Was it some trick question?

Kai was having a crisis, while Taehyun was burning with Jealousy and frustration. Why wouldn't Kai answer his question straight away?

Now if you talk about Taehyun, he wasn't really a man of patience, and beating around the bush wasn't his best attribute, so he did what he was the best at.

Taking words out of Kai's mouth forcefully.

He scoffed in annoyance and slammed his hand against the door, caging the younger under his frame with a loud thud; eyes burning into Kai's now dilated chocolate brown irises.

Kai yelped, his back hitting the door with a slight thud, his heart skipping multiple beats. Suddenly it was getting harder to breathe. A whiff of woody-vanilla with a hint of something musky entered Kai's senses, and he realised it must be the older's cologne; now invading his nose and making his senses blurry. An undeniable tension was present, thick enough to be cut with a knife. Kai felt like he couldn't breathe.

"Answer what I asked. Who were you with this morning Huening-shii." His voice came out in a whisper, as if only for the younger to hear; sending shivers down the taller's spine.

"W-with Soobin...m-my cousin." Kai stuttered out, being unable to look away from Taehyun's intense gaze. It felt as if his body was frozen on place, electricity running through his veins and piercing his heart with shockwaves; making his heart beat faster than normal. It didn't help that Taehyun was extremely attractive as well. He felt as if his throat closed up on him, unable to utter anything further.

At this point, he couldn't distinguish if the loud beating of his heart was because of the close proximity, or the nerve-racking fear he felt from thinking he maybe have given the wrong answer somehow.

Meanwhile, a wave of relief and satiation washed over Taehyun, as soon as he heard the word "cousin" come out Kai's mouth.

So it was his cousin and not boyfriend huh? That's good, Taehyun hasn't lost his shot yet.

A smirk appeared on Taehyun's lips, as he moved away from Kai, giving the poor boy finally some space to breathe and calm his racing heart.

"I see....your cousin huh.." Taehyun repeated Kai's words, looking at him with a smile, which appeared on his face without realising, while Kai stood there like a confused puppy, all flustered and red.

"Y-yes Mr.Kang." Kai replied back.

"Okay. You can go now." Taehyun said, turning around, leaving Kai still confused. What just happened?

"Thankyou Sir." He mumbled, about to leave when he was interrupted, yet again.

"Wait a second Huening-shii." He stopped him. He has no idea what he was gonna say to the taller, but he just wanted to stop him.

Maybe this is where he should man up, and ask Kai out? But his hands said otherwise, damp with sweat and heart beating out of nervousness.

"Yes Sir?" Kai asked, waiting for Taehyun to speak.

"Y-you...you need to pay for my shirt, it's all ruined!" Taehyun ended up saying and cursing himself internally. God, why was he so bad with words?

"O-oh.. yeah that shirt.... I'll get it dry-cleaned, or pay for it, or whatever you say-" Kai answered, having no idea what Taehyun wanted. He just wanted to leave and die in some corner right now.

"Not with Money. I want something else." Taehyun replied, finally deciding today is the day. He will not waste this chance.

"T-then?" Kai asked, rather worried. What did Taehyun might want from him?

"Go on a dinner with me tonight." Taehyun finally blurted out those words, leaving Kai speechless.

Was Mr.Kang asking him out on a date right now? Or was he hearing things?

"Um what? A dinner? With you Mr.Kang?" Kai asked, flabbergasted. Was he reading into things? Maybe it was something work related? He needs to stop letting his personal feelings get interwined with work for God's sake!

"Yes, a Dinner with me. Are you free tonight?" Taehyun asked, hoping the taller would say yes. He didn't sound too obvious or weird right?

"Yeah! Yeah I'm free tonight!" Kai replied, rather enthusiastically. A "maybe" dinner date with the most attractive man in the company, who he may or may not be a little infatuated with? That's once in a lifetime chance, so who's he to say no? He will let his delusion guide him, but little did he knows, this was very real, and Taehyun was internally celebrating right now.

"Yeah? Then...how about I pick you up after work? Wait for me...outside?" Taehyun asked, rather shyly now, his previous bold attitude long gone. Kai played with his heartstrings and neurones in a way which had him reeling into different emotions.

"Yeah. Okay! I'm fine with that." Kai agreed, nodding his head.

"Okay. See you after work..?" Taehyun asked, keeping his emotions under check and presenting a calm outer-look.

"Yeah. See you Mr.Kang." Kai replied back before hurrying out of the room, cheeks blooming pink and heart racing inside his chest.

As soon as Kai left, Taehyun closed the door and punched the air in happiness.

"HE SAID YES, OH MY GOD, HELL YEAH!" Taehyun jumped in happiness, almost yelling out loud but then slapping his mouth when he realised where he was, unable to contain his happiness.

He finally asked his crush out, after 5 months of crushing on the other and admiring his from afar.

"Hah, Yeonjun hyung you loser! Now you can't tease me. I'm better than you in Maths and Love both now."

Hello Luvs!! Here's an update since my fingers finally decided to Cooperate w me💀😭 I hope y'all aren't too disappointed with this whole chapter being Tyunning, because idk about y'all, I love these two cuties🥹

Yeonjun should learn something from Taehyun fr😔☝️
