Chapter 1
-Miracle Astor-
How could a mistake be ever seen as a miracle?
That sentence has been engraved in my mind since I was eight, just after Dad's funeral when we arrived home that was the first sentence my brother, Maddox, told me, I was confused at first but after a while I finally found out the truth.
Dad tried his best to hide the truth for me in order to protect me I guess, but after he died life has never been the same to me again. I've never been the same again. Dad is the only person who made me feel so loved and my love for him grew even more as I thought about that even though he's not my real father and knowing how I was conceived, he still took me in and treated me like his own daughter and never made me feel otherwise. I miss my daddy so much.
But my brothers are right to hate me. I hate me too.
I am a mistake.
My whole existence is a mistake, even my whole name is a mistake. I'm not a miracle. I don't deserve to carry the Astor name.
But for some reason I'm still here, forced to live a life that's a mistake.
I did try once to end my miserable life when I was ten, but obviously I didn't succeed and after that attempt my eldest brother and legal guardian, Damion, made sure that I wouldn't attempt anything like that again.
"My mother died so that your useless bastard self could be born, she sacrificed her life and chose yours and now you're just wasting the life my mother gave you as if it's nothing?! Don't do that kind of stupidity again, you demon spawn."
Despite how hurtful his words were, I know he was right. My mother chose to have me and literally sacrificed her life in exchange for mine. And if daddy could see what I did, I knew he'd be very disappointed, so for their sake I'm going to continue to survive each day.
I think that was also the last time Damion ever spoke to me which I guess is alright because he would just usually resort to insulting me with his hurtful, cruel words. Demon spawn. That's what he usually called me being the daughter of the man who raped our mother. My other brothers have more creative insulting nicknames for me though.
Anyway back to reality.
With a sigh, I zipped up my school bag and swing it behind my back, then there was a knock outside my door.
It's not my brothers because I know they wouldn't care to knock. This is their house, not mine. That's what they always remind me.
"Come in."
The door opened and Dana, the only maid who was kind to me, appeared. All of the workers here in the mansion have been with the Astor family since my mother was still alive and they all know the secret of the family, me, so they're never that nice to me as well. They don't say or do anything bad to me because after all I'm still their boss' half-sister, but I could always feel their judging eyes in every part of the mansion. Dana's the only kind one.
"Miss Mira, the car and the driver are ready in the front gate."
"Thank you, Dana." I softly replied and was about to leave my room, but she was still standing there with a concerned look on her face.
That's usually never good every time she looks at me like that.
"What's the matter, Dana?"
"Master Damion instructed that Sir Corbin will ride along to school with you as he's still being punished for what he did last week." She looks at me sympathetically.
