In the mirror's reflection, a stranger looks back at meA mask of conformity, hiding my true identity
I search for the real me, behind the disguise
A soul longing to break free, from the expectations' rise
I try to fit in, to be like the rest
But my true self screams, "Be yourself, you're the best!"
I'm torn between the two, in this constant strife
Yearning to be me, and not just a mask in life
The world outside is loud, with its expectations clear
But my heart whispers secrets, of my true self, dear
I'm a work of art, in progress, with every passing day
A masterpiece, hidden beneath, the mask I wear in May
I'll take a step back, and breathe, and let my soul revive
And maybe, just maybe, my true self will come alive
And I'll embrace my flaws, and love myself, just as I am
And the mask will shatter, and my true identity will stand
And when the world looks at me, they'll see the real me shine
A light that's been hidden, behind the mask's confine
And I'll be free to be me, without apology or shame
And my true self will rise, and the mask will be but a flame.
