I exist, yet not alive
Trapped in a world of expectations
Society's constant din, a cacophony
Drowning out my own heartbeatThey say "live, laugh, love" but mean
Conform, comply, contort
Into their mold, their standards
Leaving my soul to wither, unexploredBut in dreams, I spread wings wide
Like a bird, I soar, untethered
Free from judgment's weighty chains
Unshackled from the anchor of others' painsIn flight, I find my true self
Unbridled, unbound, unapologetic
No longer suffocated by expectations
I breathe, I live, I am, I flyDepression's dark wings may try
To clip my feathers, hold me down
But still, I yearn to break free
To ride the wind, to wear my crownFor in freedom's embrace, I find
My truest self, my heart's deepest mind
Where I can be, without pretence
A bird in flight, without a second thought, just existence.
