"Freen," Becky's voice was pleading. "Alex made me leave you. He threatened me. He threatened you." What was she saying? Alex wasn't capable of that, was he?

"What lies," Alex laughed. "Is this what you have to reduce yourself to Becky?"

"Freen," Becky called. "Please love," I looked into her eyes. I couldn't leave like this. I needed a moment alone with her to understand what the hell was going on.

"Alex, I need a moment with Becky alone," I whispered.

"OVER MY DEAD . . ." Alex began to yell, but I touched his chest.

"Please, I just need to speak to her . . .as a friend . . .that's all." I pleaded as Alex let me go.

"Then we will go home, Freen. I'm sick of all of this," Alex glared. "Some people don't know when to give up." Alex yelled directly at Becky.

"Fuck you, Alex." Becky was losing it again, but relaxed as I walked over to her.

Becky followed me into the private garden towards the back of the hotel. "What the fuck is going on, Becky . . .Jane . . are you joking?" I yelled.

"I'm sorry. I know I should have told you, but Alex is a dangerous man. I have to keep you away from her."

"Are you doing this just to make sure I stay with you . . ." I touched her face. "You don't need to lie, Becky. You have me."

"It's the truth, Freen," Becky whispered.

"How can I trust you when you couldn't even tell me about Jane? How could you be so heartless? I never thought you could be like that. Just a few hours ago we said no secrets. . . .just look how many have come out!" I was angry because truthfully I wasn't sure if I could trust her. Would Alex do that, threaten someone? I found it really hard to believe, but why would Becky lie. I was so confused.

"Freen, if you loved me enough you would just trust me," Becky winced.

"Don't use that one on me," I yelled, pulling away. How could she not understand what she had done? "Did you not just witness me being pulled like a rag doll between Alex and you?"

"You can't do it can you?"

"Do what?" I screeched "Stop talking in fucking riddles. I have had enough."

"You don't believe me do you?" Becky touched my face, sorrow filling her eyes.

"Did you tell Alex you loved me at Harry Clearwater's party . . .I want the truth, please." I begged.

"I am telling you the truth. I wouldn't need to tell her. Alex already knew long before he put that ring on your finger."

I shook my head. "You're confusing everything, Becky," I sobbed not knowing what to do. Go with my heart or my head?

"I'm not giving you another chance, Freen. You either stay with me today or that's it. I'm done with you. I can't keep fighting for something that doesn't want to be won." Fuck, her words sliced me in two. How could she say this to me if I was the love of her life? All her words and touches from this week were slowly melting away as her cold eyes looked at me.

"And you say you love me," I whimpered tears rolling down my eyes. "I was so stupid," I sobbed beginning to walk away.

"Freen," Becky pleaded. "I didn't mean it, love. I'm angry . . .Why can't you see Alex for the man he is?"

"You mean the man you want me to see," I shrieked, pulling away from her hold. "This was a mistake. I can't be with you no matter how much I love you . . .I can't do this." I began to walk away.
