Denisha was midway through her shift, trying to keep her mind off her impending vacation when an emergency call came down to the medical department for inmate Cartier. Dewayne was being brought in for chest pains. Her heart skipped a beat. She had to maintain her professionalism, but the thought of seeing him again sent a thrill through her.

As Dewayne was wheeled into the room, slumped in the medical chair, Denisha couldn't help but notice how vulnerable he looked. The doctor immediately began barking orders to have an EKG done, and Denisha was instructed to stand by while the tech performed the test.

Behind the tech's back, Dewayne looked over at Denisha and broke into a wide, mischievous grin. It was like he was delighted to see her, despite his condition. Denisha felt a rush of emotion; she was torn between concern for his health and the undeniable attraction she felt.

"Jackson, what do you want me to do?" her trainee's voice snapped her back to reality.

Denisha took a deep breath, pushing aside her feelings. "Just observe for now," she instructed. "We're observing the tech do the EKG to check his heart activity. It's crucial for diagnosing any issues."

As the tech instructed Dewayne to remove his shirt, Denisha's breath got caught in her throat. His chest was a masterpiece of tattoos, each one telling a story. In the midst of the ink, a long surgery scar ran down his chest, adding an air of rugged beauty. It was almost too much for her to handle.

Dewayne's eyes never left hers. There was a silent conversation happening between them, one that spoke of curiosity, attraction, and an unspoken connection. Denisha felt like she was in a daze, unable to break free from his magnetic pull.

The tech finished the test, and the doctor took over, reviewing the results and ensuring Dewayne was stable. Denisha and Dewayne's gazes were locked on each other, neither wanting to look away. It was as if time had stopped, and for those few moments, nothing else existed.

Finally, the officer stepped forward to escort Dewayne back to his cell. Denisha watched as he disappeared down the hallway, her heart aching with a mix of longing and hope. She knew she was in deep, but she couldn't help herself. Dewayne was unlike anyone she had ever met, and she was willing to see where this connection would lead, no matter the cost.
