I slam his car door as I get comfortable on the seat. I let my arm hang out of the car and wait for my friends to drive toward the Akana's house.

"Dude, can you not abuse my car?" Koro leans over to check on his "baby" before giving me a stank look. I hold my hands up as a surrender and smirk at him. He rolls his eyes and drives off of my driveway, heading towards the party.

In the passenger seat, Na'Tok is on the aux and changes the song, while Koro drives. In the back, me and Tai'Lin sit away from each other, leaving a space in the middle. A gasp can be heard next to me as Tai'Lin perks up.

"Wait! Na'Nung will be there, right?" Here she goes again with Na'Nung this, Na'Nung that. Bitch, Na'Nung doesn't like you! Good grief. She needs actual help sometimes.

"Oh my Eywa Tai'Lin, will you shut up!"

"Tai'Lin, are you stupid?"

"I swear to Eywa."

Us three boys say different things at the same time, yet are all equally annoyed at her. I face her as she pouts and crosses her arms.

"Dude, Na'Nung isn't coming back to Hawaii until after school starts. You literally stalk his account, you should know that he's in Spain right now." I go off on her as she rolls her eyes and pulls out her phone.

"Whatever. You guys are lame!" She mumbles, tapping away at whatever it is that's on her phone. I chuckle and go back to my original position, arm sticking out of the convertible car.

"Dude, you think Tsireya's gonna be there with her new boy thing?" Koro asks, glancing at Na'Tok. Tsireya did post a lot of notes on her Instagram, talking about some boy. And there was the Lo'ak boy she was clinging to a few days ago. Maybe that was who she was talking about.

"Does it look like I know, Koro?" Na'Tok doesn't look up from his phone and calmly responds to Koro's question. Na'Tok is the one person in our friend group that Koro can't get under. He's always calm and collected unless he's messing with someone. He's kind of scary too... Always quiet and cold.

The ride was silent except for the occasional song or two for the rest of the time. Soon we pull up to the Akana's mansion and park outside on one of the curbs.

We all get out and start walking toward the house. I slip my leather jacket on as I see Koro fix his red hoodie and old cargos, while Na'Tok moves the bottom part of his black dress shirt and slips his phone in the front pocket of his black jeans.

I look forward and can't help but stare at Tai'Lin's lower half as her jean skirt bounces with every step she takes. If she wasn't so stupid and annoying, I would've hit on her by now. I watch her green flowing top move in the wind. She swears that she didn't wear it because she saw Nat'Lyn wearing it in her instagram posts but we all know she's lying.

After a long walk towards the house, we finally arrive and ring the doorbell. The door opens, revealing Ao'nung with a drink in his hand. He had a smile that vanished off his face the second he saw us. If it was just me standing outside, he probably would've just shut the door. But since our friends were here too, he had to let us in.

We entered and the smell of sweat and liquor hit my nose. Yeah, this is gonna be fun. Ao'nung walks away from the door, which is towards us.

"Ao'nung! Long time no see, huh?" Koro slaps a hand on his shoulder while he just smiles and nods. He walks past and doesn't even bother looking at me as he makes his way toward the kitchen.

"Hm, that was..." Koro starts but can't quite finish his sentence, so Na'Tok finishes it for him.

"Odd? Yeah, who cares? He's always been odd." Na'Tok opens a bottle of vodka and starts drinking it. Where the hell did he pull that out of? His ass? I don't ask, knowing he'll go off on me so I look around. I spot a familiar head of red hair and realized that it was that girl from a few days ago.
