The arms dealer is currently seated in the back of the van with her head resting on one of the van's inner walls as she can hear crickets outside indicating that it's late at night. The doors open as Leo gets in pulling a seat along sitting across from her.
"Oh Maria sends her pretty boy cousin to interrogate me." She says with both amusement and mockery.
Leo stares rather stoically and sighs clearing his throat.
"Let's keep this quick and simple Jessica or should I call you by your real name, Vanessa?" Leo asks calmly interlocking his hands together.
Vanessa scoffs looking away motioning him to continue.
"You sold weapons and equipment to a terrorist organization going by the Faceless, any information you have on them would be helpful." Leo says with his arms crossed.
"What's in it for me?" Vanessa asks with a smirk as Leo remains unaffected by her act.
"You get to keep your life, that's what in it for you." Leo replies coldly as the others are outside listening.
Valkyrie is a bit surprised but figures it's just Leo trying to scare audibly Vanessa who scoffs at this threat.
"Oh soo scary, you Navy Seals clearly invented interrogation methods." Vanessa again jests mockingly.
"Interrogation isn't typically my rodeo I'll admit but we're just getting started. You don't get to make demands, not with all that innocent blood on your hands." Leo replies rather harshly.
Vanessa scoffs once again looking to the side.
"Guilt tripping me isn't gonna work." Vanessa snaps back.
"I'm well aware of that, given you broke your vow to your country and it's people." Leo states as this has the intended effect of pissing Vanessa off.
Vanessa straightens up glaring at Leo.
"The same country and people that don't understand what it takes to keep them safe? Everything I did was to protect them and what did I get in return? I became disposable the minute they thought it was convenient for them." Vanessa rants with Leo watching on taking this in.
Vanessa realizes what she just said and growls to herself as Leo gets up deciding to take a break and hops out of the van.
"Good start Leo, I'll make you a CIA agent yet." Maria jokes knowing Leo wants nothing to do with the CIA.
"Hilarious Maria." Leo says whilst taking a seat letting the cool nightly breeze welcome him. "So what's the deal between you and her?"
Maria sits down across from Leo whilst tapping her cheek with her fingers.
"We were a fling for time, nothing serious but she... Used me to get classified Intel, I'm lucky I didn't lose my goddamn job after that. If I go in there? I might rip her to pieces." Maria states as an obvious metaphor.
"Well you are called Hellcat, I'll get her to talk I assure you." Leo promises as Maria nods appreciating this.
Valkyrie is keeping an eye on Vanessa via a camera in the van who hasn't moved much other than cursing under her breath as she sees Ash approaching.
"Your old friend is full of surprises." Ash comments with praise.
"That's Leo for you, highly adaptable just as a SEAL should be... He's clearly on your good side if you're praising him." Valkyrie replies as that's as rare an occurrence as her not wanting to be good at something.
"He is but I got a question if you don't mind." Ash says trying to be polite.
"Depends on the question." Valkyrie states keeping her attention on Vanessa.
"Got any idea why he doesn't wanna lead a team anymore? He led his own SEAL team but he hasn't accepted a leadership role since." Ash asks curious since Leo's resume indicates he's a go-to for leading teams.
Valkyrie looks towards as she's noticed this as well and has a pretty good idea of what's going on.
"Knowing Leo and the result of that mission with the casualties? I suspect Leo is blaming himself for what happened and thinks he shouldn't lead, he's his own worst enemy." Valkyrie says knowing this better than anyone.
After about twenty odd minutes, Leo heads back inside the van taking his seat once again.
"Listen Vanessa, this could go on all night but neither of us want that so tell me what I wanna know so we can stop wasting each other's time." Leo demands as Vanessa straightens up.
"Sure the minute you starting making a deal with me, you gain something and I gain something in return it's simple math." Vanessa states as Maria shakes her head whilst touching her radio.
"Don't give an inch Leo, she's only trying to weasel her way out of this." Maria says into Leo's com.
Leo leans forward a bit looking Vanessa in the eyes.
"You're not the one in control here Vanessa, I'm giving you an out, I suggest you take it otherwise I'm gonna get my hands dirty and if that doesn't work? We hand you over to MI6 and I'm sure you're more than familiar with how they handle interrogations... Tell me how do you think they'll handle you?" Leo asks hoping this gets her thinking.
Maria is extremely impressed with how Leo is doing with the mind games as this how she would do it.
"Good keep the pressure up." Maria orders as she's reminded of Brandon almost.
"You know arms dealers get it worse than the people they sell weapons to right? You sold weapons to a group who killed a US ambassador and got 5 Navy Seals killed not to mention the collateral such as non political and military personnel... Sure you didn't hold the gun but you basically caused all of this to happen, that's life sentence." Leo says face to face to Vanessa.
Vanessa is processing this information as the American much to her annoyance is completely.
"Maria I know you're listening and I have no right to ask you for anything but please... Make sure the identity of my lad and lass remains a mystery, they don't deserve to be caught in this." Vanessa says as Maria sighs hopping inside the van.
Maria gives her word to Vanessa that they won't get caught up in this.
"Okay... My buyer worked through intermediaries, I never met him or her personally." Vanessa starts with Maria asking who these intermediaries were exactly. "American without a doubt, not military as far as I could tell, they seemed more like the suit types."
Leo and Maria exchange curious glances.
"Draw them." Leo says handing her a notepad as Vanessa begins sketching away for a few minutes while Leo and Maria begin conversing quietly. "Think the Faceless have allies in the US government?"
"Maybe, it could explain why General Reeves is doing his best to hide Wheeler, they know something about the Faceless and they're trying to hide it." Maria replies with Leo nodding in agreement.
Vanessa gets their attention as they return with her showing them the sketch. Maria takes it examining the sketch closely as Leo can see that she recognizes them.
"Maria? Who are they?" Leo asks as Maria keeps her eyes on the sketch.
"Retired CIA agents Faulkner and Collins, people I worked with." Maria says hopping out of the van.
"Goddamn it." Leo mutters realizing this just became more complicated than it already was.
